Sometimes, when you brave everything that has come in your path, you get the feel of relief knowing you don't have to worry about anything anymore.

Something clanked in the distance and there was the sound of something exploding.

Keefe cringed. Well, nothing to worry except for Foster. Clearly she'll never be better at Alchemy. A lot has changed...except for that. He heard Dex cackle with laughter and Sophie's shriek. He shook his head, looking down to hide his grin.

"Keefe Sencen, are you LAUGHING at me?" Sophie asked, her eyes narrowed. Keefe's lips twitched and he shook his head.

"No, I'm not laughing at YOU," He said, struggling to contain his laugh. No, he can't laugh yet not when he hasn't delivered the punchline.

                                                                   "I'm laughing at your failure,"

He ducked, and the beaker smashed against the wall. Dex and Keefe howled with laughter while Sophie glared. In the end, they ended up helping her(more like doing the work for her) and managed to complete it.
As the school day rolled to an end, Keefe followed Sophie back to Havenfield. They sat underneath Calla's tree, Keefe's head resting on her shoulder while his hand rubbed circles on the back of hers. It's still hard to believe the Neverseen were fully gone. They had been a part of their lives for so long, it felt like muscle memory to pull out the hidden goblin throwing stars they all had hidden. It clearly impacted all of them. Keefe was in his final year of Elite levels and Sophie second-last. Keefe had also been added to Team Valiant, much to Fitz's dismay. Keefe bristled at the thought of Fitz, they hadn't let the little argument between them stop their friendship. They were best friends, now and forever but it did hurt seeing Fitz with his family when everyday he was forced to come to terms with the fact that both his parents were gone. And neither had bothered to say goodbye. It physically pained him whenever he went over to Everglen and saw Alvar, who had gotten a...third chance to be with his family happy. They weren't perfect, yeah he knew that. But they were together. He couldn't say the same for himself.

Gisela had died at the final battle, at his father's hands. It was unexpected to say the least. But then his father, overwhelmed by the guilt of killing the woman he had loved(another shocker, he didn't know his dad was capable of feelings). Lord Cassius has lost himself to his guilt, and Sophie had tried to heal him but he was gone beyond saving. She had described his mind as broken shards of memories, all of Gisela. It hurt to listen to. It probably hurt more to watch.
Keefe and Sophie had started dating so when it got too unbearable to be in the Elite towers, him and Sophie would return to Havenfield and spend the nights under Calla's tree. Like they were now.
He gazed up at the starless sky, Sophie curled up beside him, her head resting against his chest. Soft music played from her Ipod, and he closed his eyes, letting the music seep into his soul.

I have a feeling you got everything you wanted
And your not wasting time stuck here like me

And your just thinking its a small thing that happened
The world ended when it happened to me
I have a feeling you got everything you wanted
And your not wasting time stuck here like me
And your just thinking its a small thing that happened
The world ended when it happened to me

He may have hated his parents, they may have hurt him. But there was something painful about watching both of them go before his eyes. Sophie's grip on his shirt tightened and he looked down at her.

"What are you thinking?" She mumbled, her eyes still closed. He exhaled softly, shaking his head and planted a kiss on her forehead.

"Don't lie to me," she mumbled again and Keefe's lips turned up in a small smile.

"I'm just thinking about us. And how peaceful it is to be free, to not worry. Well, I worry of course because you somehow still manage to almost die. But otherwise..." His voice trailed off.

He frowned realising she wasn't responding and then chuckled quietly realising she fell back asleep. He draped a blanket over them both, pressing a final kiss to her forehead.

And then almost screamed, noticing a figure standing at the window from the house staring at them. It didn't make him feel better when he realising it was Grady. Goodness.

Somethings really don't change.
Like Grady.
And his fear of Grady.

I'm cringing so hard why is it so bad, whatever I hope the next one will be better. I hope you guys lives are going good :) take care lovelies xxx
