Part 3 requested by @IceBlueRules So okay I have no idea what the heck this will be about, I'm just letting my hand and mind take over. Just...be prepared for Sokeefe fluffiness.
Sophie's POV
Sophie woke up to sniffles and voices.
" How long will she be out?"
" She should be up any minute now."
" You've been saying that for the last 2 days, Elwin."
Sophie groaned and suddenly the room went quiet. Sophie's eyes fluttered and she tried to open them but was blinded by the bright light. " Open your eyes slowly, Sophie." A familiar, soothing voice advised. She finally opened her eyes and surveyed the room. She opened her mouth but was stopped by a familiar male elf. Elwin.
" Drink this." He handed her a bottle of Youth and she drank it, happily. " What-what happened?" She asked. Everyone exchanged a glance. She realized that many of her friends were there. Along with her parents. And they all looked...tired. How long had she been out?
Edaline stepped forward and sat next to her, brushing Sophie's hair away from her pale and sweaty face. " You and Keefe were attacked but you had it under control. But, Fitz...he is gone. For good. So is Gethen." Edaline explained slowly. And that's when the flashbacks hit.
The sunset. Keefe. The voices. Fighting. Fitz. Betrayal. Shock. Keefe. Anger. Keefe. Keefe. Keefe.
" Where's Keefe?" She blurted. " Right here." A voice replied. A blonde, handsome elf stepped out from between the crowds. He looked like he was holding back the urge to run over and kiss her. She smiled softly but it faded when she noticed a fresh new scar running along his forearm. The small smile was replaced by a scowl. " He recovered faster, his injuries weren't too bad. It also seems like the Panakes blossoms did their job," Edaline assured, guessing what she was thinking. Maybe she did the right thing. She should have just used the blossom given to Fitz and given it to Keefe. What a waste.
Keefe exchanged a look with Dex, who nodded and whispered something to the rest of them. They all cast a ' See you later, rest well' look that she recognized from the previous times. Elwin gave her a few elixirs to take and once she guzzled them down, he collected the empty bottle and left them alone. Keefe sat down on the edge of her cot and brushed her hair behind her ear, softly.
" How do you feel?" He whispered, bending down so his lips brushed her forehead. Sophie hummed slightly before replying, " Better." He smiled softly and grasped her hand, tracing his thumb over her knuckles. He lifted it up and gently pressed a light, feathery kiss to it. " Thank you." He said suddenly. She blinked, confused. "For what?" Keefe chuckled. " For saving me. And for not dying." He said. Sophie smiled and rolled her eyes.
Keefe leaned down and their lips met. He smelled like a great combination of the salty ocean air, strawberries, and something citrusy. His lips were soft against hers, his right hand wove through her hair and rested on the back of her neck while the other was around her waist. He leaned down so she wouldn't hurt her neck. Keefe pulled away after a few minutes and they both gazed into each other's eyes in comfortable silence.
" Foster," Keefe whispered. Sophie hummed in response, her hands fiddling with his hair, something only she could do. He really seemed to like it when she played with his hair. " I need you to promise me something," He stated, pecking her cheek. " And what's that?" She asked. "No more almost dying. No dying either." He said. " At least you try your best," Keefe added when she opened her mouth to protest.
" Fine," She gave in. Keefe grinned and kissed her forehead. He then took her back to Havenfield, where Edaline and Grady were waiting. Keefe carried her bridal style and when they entered the house, Edaline gave them a goofy smile while Grady glared at Keefe. " You guys are home! I'm guessing Keefe is going to carry you up to your room and put you to bed so you can finally rest?" She guessed. Sophie started to nod but quickly changed her mind and asked, " Actually, I was wondering if Keefe could stay over. It'll help me sleep." Edaline nodded quickly but Grady glared daggers at Keefe and cleared his throat rather loudly.
" Do you need some water, Grady?" Edaline asked, slightly irritated. Sophie had to suppress her snickers and she could tell Keefe was trying his best not to go over to Edaline and high-five her. Grady stood up from his seat and raised his eyebrows at the couple. " No funny business you too! And leave the door open!" He warned. Edaline glared at him and mouthed ' Don't mind him, you two have fun.' before ushering Grady into the kitchen. Keefe grinned and carried her up to her room.
He set her on her bed and purposely slammed the door shut so Grady would hear. Sophie burst out laughing and patted the place next to her. Keefe jumped onto the bed and snuggled closer to her. He laid her head on her lap while he slept horizontally while she was sitting up vertically. (Can you guys understand? I'm trying to make it clear how they're lying on the bed...)
Sophie played with his hair while he stared up at the ceiling, thoughtfully. " Foster, you know you really scare me sometimes?" He asked, grabbing one of her hands and pressing it to his cheek. Sophie sighed. " I'm sorry. You shouldn't worry about me so much, it isn't healthy." Keefe pressed his lips to her palm and insisted, " It's my job to worry about you. It isn't healthy to almost die so many times. It's unfair how the worst things happen to you. You don't deserve it." He whispered.
Sophie smiled and gently caressed his cheek. " Not all things are bad, Keefe. You were the best thing that happened to me. And you always will be. Life is hard, yes but it's about the people you choose to surround yourselves with that help you make it easier. Your life was hard too, Keefe. You went through so many unimaginable things, it pains me to think about those." She replied, leaning down and pressing a small kiss to his forehead.
" Don't think about that. I have you and you made my life so much better. You made life worth living. Every time I wanted to give up, you didn't let me, you urged me on. We have both gone through horrible things. Things we shouldn't need to go through, but we did. And we have each other. We'll fight everything together. Go through everything together. Sophie, for you, I would go through hell and back for you. (PJO anyone?) Sophie, I'm here for you, and I know you're here for me too. Sometimes, you're the only thing that keeps me together. And, I'm glad you chose to be with me. You could have anyone, but you chose me and I'm grateful for that. I love you, Sophie." Keefe kissed the back of her hand one more time and Sophie had to fight back tears but one slipped out anyway. Keefe sat up.
" Did I say something wrong? I'm sorry-" Sophie cut him off with a kiss. He leaned in and wrapped his arms around her waist. He leaned her back against the bed frame and he got on his knees. (Gosh, my dirty mind) They broke apart, slightly breathless. " I love you too, Keefe. So much." Sophie whispered. Keefe smiled and kissed her cheek.
They both layed down and Sophie rested her head on her boyfriend's chest. Keefe held her close to him and kissed her forehead. She fell asleep listening to his heartbeat. She had the best sleep she had in a while.
