After breaking their intense hug, Ishqi gently wiped away Ahaan's tears and her own.
"Do you trust me?", she politely asked.
Ahaan nodded silently, his eyes filled with uncertainty.
"Then just do as I say. This is the only way everything will be alright. And please, don’t think for a second that you’re hurting me.", Ishqi responded.
Ahaan was still hesitant, "But…"
"Trust me. Everything will be fine. I know you're confused right now, so you might say things you don't mean. But it’s time to set everything right. Let’s go home."
Reluctantly, Ahaan agreed. They left together, heading back to their shared apartment, only to find the entire Malhotra family already gathered there, waiting anxiously.
"Oh, you’re all here ! Actually, that’s good.", Ishqi exclaimed.
Savitri, looked worried and asked, "What happened, Beta?"
"Nothing to worry about, Maa. It’s just that the time has come to set everything in its place.", Ishqi replied with a smile.
Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Ishqi continued, "It’s really quite simple. Ahaan and Vidhi’s divorce was never finalized, which means my marriage to Ahaan is technically illegal. And honestly, Ahaan has always been in love with Vidhi." She paused and continued with a sad smile, "The right thing to do now is for them to be together. I know it might sound like I’m talking nonsense, but I’ve seen the deep love in their eyes for each other."
The room fell silent, everyone too stunned to react. Ahaan could only stare at Ishqi, his eyes wide with shock and confusion. Ishqi gave him a reassuring nod, silently urging him to go along with her plan. She then took Vidhi's hand and placed it in Ahaan's, insisting them to hug each other. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she blinked them away, determined to stay strong.
As Ahaan and Vidhi awkwardly embraced, Ishqi quietly slipped away towards Vihaan, who was in his room. Ahaan, sensing her departure, tried to stop her by grabbing her wrist, but she gently pulled free and continued on her way.
When she reached Vihaan, the little boy clung to her, not wanting to let go. Ishqi knelt down to his level, trying her best to comfort him,"Vihaan, I know this is hard, but you’ll be happy with Vidhi. She is your real mother, champ."
"I have only one mumma and that's you.", Vihaan said with tearful eyes and he hugged Ishqi tightly.
Ishqi felt vulnerable at the moment but she remained firm. She wiped away Vihaan's tears and continued,"Baccha, whenever you miss me, you can always come and visit, okay? You are my strong boy. I know you will listen to my words."
Despite his tears, Vihaan nodded reluctantly. Ishqi then gathered her belongings, packed her suitcase, and made her way downstairs.
Vidhi was waiting, confusion and guilt written all over her face. She asked softly,"Ishqi, what are you doing?"
"Vidhi, I am making things right. This home, Ahaan and Vihaan, solely belongs to you and I can't keep you deprived of your rights. That’s why I have to leave."
Vidhi tried to argue, "But—"
Ishqi cut her off with a pained smile, "Please, let me go."
Despite her determination, Ishqi’s departure was not easy. Both Savitri and Dadi (Ahaan’s grandmother) pleaded with her to stay at the Malhotra Mansion, convincing her that she is still their family member. Reluctantly, Ishqi agreed and moved into her old bedroom there. Once inside, she dropped her suitcase and rushed to the washroom, turning on the tap to drown out her sobs. She cried uncontrollably, her heart breaking under the weight of her own sacrifice.
