Unholy Blood

The signal post winked at the street,
And a herd of cars rushed by,
She left her house for a generous stroll
Under the deep night's sky.

Her mind was dipped in treacherous thoughts
And little, her caution remained.
For as she crossed the road,
A car's horn complained.

Statued by the luminous eyes,
The car drove her off feet.
And then with an involuntary maneuver,
Her body landed on the street.

The driver stopped to check her breath,
And saw her blood was red.
But since her skin was colored,
He left her to be dead.

Washed in blood, her eyes noticed,
Her culprit unable to decide.
The white man, it seemed knew somewhere,
That she was a human inside.

His mind calculated her survival chance,
While she groaned in pain;
Medics were there miles away,
For a black, his efforts were vain.

He briskly fired the car away,
And left her down the light.
And when people gathered the next day,
They blamed it on her eye-sight.

The people were the best judges of,
The color of a human's face.
And thus damned another human being,
To a life of disgrace.
