Broken Cradle

Twinkled all his little stars,

As he peeked from behind the bars.

With two deep cuts and a scar,

He wondered where his masters are?

Innately paralyzed was expensive to keep,

So his parents sold the black sheep.

For a wretch they got two bags full,

Left the child under their rule.

Enslaved by the worthy two,

His life hung like taboo.

He woke up bright in their harsh whirlpool,

and watched their child rush to school.

No care was taken for his amputated leg,

As he slithered to fill his peg.

But since a drop fell on his lap,

Rewarded him with one tight slap.

He saw their child play with toys,

Their expensive clothes and graceful poise.

He too dreamt to fly one day,

But unlike stars he was sold away.

With everyday he grew much worse,

In him the agony began to surge.

Their complains answered with a booted kick,

Then locked him up by a cruel flick.

He lay silently with none to sooth,

Smelt of aghast his days of youth.

He tried to die but was young at heart,

So they snatched his life apart.

For few days he had been fatally ill,

But she only spared a sisyphean pill.

The trembling hands missed some dirt,

Vaguely visible on her favorite skirt.

She ruled him with an iron hand ,

Pressed it hot, before he could understand.

His pain was marked with an howling call,

But the nosy neighbours heard nothing at all.

Even his cries was against their choice,

As their child was disturbed by the noise.

Rented hunger to make him behave,

Left him alone for the grave.

They closed the doors and flung the blind,

Spared a generous kick, just to be kind.

Then on to their arcane jaunt,

Left him to die of hunger's haunt.

He squeaked till his voice bore no sound,

It had been days , noone was around.

He lay broken in mind and flesh,

Locked inside the storage mesh.

He chose to sleep but did not wake,

They returned to see the cradle break .

His lifeless body at the pane,

Scanning the skies and scrutinizing the lane.

Belittled were all his twinkling stars,

As his soul escaped the bars.

With no tears, or cuts , or scar,

He wondered what his masters are?
