Chapter 16: Into The Abyss

Maisie and Krystal ran through the halls heading for the elevator. Maisie wasn't sure where to go but all she knew was that Owen and Claire might be close by so her best bet is to wait until they find her.

Krystal on the other hand, while she was happy to be free, what will she do once she's out of here? Considering what happened with Ripper, will he still ever accept her as part of the squad?

She just left without considering what Fang would feel. She wouldn't blame Ripper if he somehow got angrier at her just because of that.

"Hey, what's the matter?" Maisie asked.

"It's nothing. Let's just keep going." Krystal replied.

"You know, if you've got a problem, you can tell me." Maisie urged.

Krystal sighed.

"I don't know what to do once I get out. Mr. Ripper was already furious with me when we last spoke, he's probably even angrier now that I just left without thinking of how Fang and Talon would feel about it." Krystal said.

Krystal had told Maisie earlier about her last talk with Ripper. And to Maisie, she felt as though it was eerily similar to her last talk with Owen. Both of them left due to stress and both ended up captured.

But Ripper wasn't the only one Krystal was worried about.

"And what will Talon and Fang think of me? They'll probably think I'm crazy... They're the only friends I've got." Krystal frowned.

Like Maisie, Krystal too was starting to regret leaving because of her friends. Would it be fair to leave them without their knowledge? They may have only known each other for eight months, but that's more than enough time for them to form a bond with each other.

Maisie slowed down. She then stroked the top of Krystal's neck as the Raptor stopped in her tracks and looked at the girl. She pulled Krystal close and pushed her head against hers.

"Listen 'kay? We're gonna go home." Maisie assured her.

"Yeah, sure, and what about Mr. Ripper? He's probably gonna try to kill me if he sees me again." Krystal worried.

"No he won't. He's not like that. Believe me, this is coming from somebody he tried to kill once. He may get angry sometimes but he does know how to forgive and forget." Maisie said back.

She didn't know Ripper too well, mostly because she doesn't spend that much time with him. But there are times where he lets go of a grudge he has against someone. Blue is a good example of this since she was a major rival of his before becoming his mate.

Krystal didn't know what to hope for. But all she could do right now is follow Maisie. She can't just run away on her own because she doesn't know this place. She doesn't know what's in it. For all she knows, there might be hybrids in this facility.

As Maisie and Krystal were nearing the edge of the hall, they saw two people in white suits walking over to the elevator. The two girls stopped as the people with suits turned around.

"Should I?" Krystal wondered. Asking Maisie if she should attack.

"No, hold on." Maisie whispered.

The people in the suits started to approach them. Maisie was getting nervous, did Elliot set them up? He wouldn't just send her on her way without making sure if there was any staff in the area would he? Or was he really like his brother?

Maisie gulped, Krystal started growling and snapping as the two people approached them. But then, one of them took off the hood of their suits and it revealed who was wearing it.
