West Texas

This was the exact same farm where Ellie first saw a locust for the first time in person. The crops of the family she talked to regrew a little, but with the locusts kept coming back every now and then, any crop that would grow, would be shredded without the family's notice.

Elliot walked through a field of uneaten crops. He had a metal cage that he was holding onto with his right hand. Inside of that cage would be the solution to all of this madness.

It was a locust. The same locust that Alan and Ellie took to Biosyn. After The Night of Voices, they lended Elliot the locust to him to experiment on and after a while, he managed to come out with a breakthrough.

The man stopped at a particular part of the field. He could hear some chittering from nearby, which means that are some locusts that were already feasting on the crops.

However, that ends today. Or at least, he hoped it would end today.

Elliot gently set the cage down on the ground. Then opened the front door of the cage. He pulled his hand back fast just in case the locust were to lunge at him.

The locust slowly crawled it's way out of the cage as Elliot took something out of his left pocket. After the fall of Biosyn, many of their equipment was either taken for investigation, or was destroyed to prevent them being used by criminals in the future.

But Elliot did manage to save one thing that was supposed to be destroyed.

He pulled out a remote. The same kind of remote that Soyona and Lewis used to control the Dromeosaurs, however, his was modified with a few different features. Normally, he would see this as inhumane, but as it is right now, he sees the locusts not as simple animals, but as a plague that needs to be eradicated.

When Elliot pressed the controls on the remote for commands, the locust began to fly. He installed a chip into it's head and while it is effective, it was not easy due to how small the chip had to be to accommodate for the size of the locust.

While controlling the locust, he felt like he was playing with a drone. Only that this drone was an invasive species and not a small helicopter.

Elliot pushed a red button. This would release the pheromones he talked about before which would attract the other locusts in a sort of mating ritual where a swarm of them would gather up. But what they don't know is that this will be the last flight they will ever take.

An abundance of chittering was heard as more locusts started to appear from the crops after the pheromones were sent. The pheromones may be invisible for us humans, but for them, the place in which they were was being bombarded by the pheromones.

The locusts hiding in the crops began to fly towards the rogue locust that Elliot was controlling. As they rose, it looked as though they were forming a gigantic black wave or mass. Elliot would be terrified of this, but not when he's in control.

He does admit, maybe his brother had a point in saying that there was such a thing as control. But instead of using it to bend animals to his will to make them do his dirty work, Elliot is simply using this locust to help heal the scars he caused.

All of the locusts were caught up in a massive sphere of black as they were focusing on the rogue locust. Elliot looked at the remote and looked over to a purple button. He took a deep breath and prayed that this would work. If it does, he can finally put his demons to rest.

He pressed the purple button, and while it wasn't obvious, the rogue locust sent out another kind of pheromone mixed in with the first one it sent out. But this one wasn't trying to attract any potential mates. In fact, if the other locusts knew what this was, they'd be fleeing.
