Intrams na. Nagsimula ang event with a little parade. Mula sa kabilang building hanggang sa gym.
Katapat na team namin ang team nina Jance at katabi naman namin sina Primo. Hindi pa nagsisimula ang team yell kaya lumapit sa akin si Jance at inalok ako ng water niya.
"Goodluck later, Jance!"
Ngumiti siya saka ako mabilis na niyakap.
"Kayo din, Laina!" He said while running off.
It was finally time for the team yell and medyo kinakabahan ako sa mangyayari since magulo ang mga bata kahapon but all will be okay. Napatingin pa ako kay Jance once he caught my attention. He was waving his hands and gave me a big smile and a quick thumbs up. Somehow it made me feel at ease, he was a really good support system.
"Thanks, Jance.." I mouthed while facing my team.
"Mhm, huling-huli!" Estella caught me off guard while Ma'am Esme was laughing.
"May namamagitan ba sa kanila, anak?" Ma'am Esme said.
"Naku, wala po." I answered.
After the team yell ay tumatawa ang lahat dahil halata na namin ng winner sa yell. Jance's team was the clearest and loudest talaga. It was no surprise na rin if sila ang maging winner.
Lunch time na and hinahanap ko pa si Ella para makapag decide kami kung saan kakain. I was asking everyone when I found out na inaya daw pala siya ni Oscar kanina and hinahanap din daw niya ako para sana isama ako kaso hindi niya ako nakita.
"Laina kakain na ako sama ka?" Nilingon ko si Jance at sumama sa kaniya. "Tara sa greenwich."
He was a gentleman, alam naming lahat. He ordered for me and treated me like a princess. I really appreciate his gestures for me.
He got the food and placed it on our table now. We were eating peacefully when I suddenly saw a bunch of people around our age na maiingay. I scoffed and ducked my head a little thinking about how annoying they were.
When the noise was finally gone I lifted my head and saw Jance smiling at me but it was a different smile. Like his eyes were saying something else, there was something there and I was afraid to admit it.
"Why are you smiling at me like that?" I asked.
"Wala, ang cute mo." He said at kumain na.
"Jance, may dadaanan lang ako sa miniso." I had been eyeing this plush cat toy.
"Wait patapos na ako sasamahan na kita." Jance was a slow eater, it was one of my pet peeves but I didn't tell him that.
Once he finished I cleaned up our plates and then we went to look for the plush toy. Wala akong mahanap sa branch na ito.
"Nahanap mo ba?" Jance asked.
"No, balik na tayo sa university malapit na ang cultural competition." I suggested.
Hindi ko sure kung magiging okay ang lahat since we had so little time to prepare for everything.
"Lala kooo!" Tinakbo ni Estella ang pagitan namin at tinulak palayo si Jance para mayakap ako. "Sorry bebe!"
"Okay lang, Ella ano ka ba." I said and hugged her as well. "Nabusog ka naman?"
"Yes yes, ikaw ba?" She asked then fixed my hair.
Ella was my sister, regardless of who we were born to. We always believed in our connection and I love her for that.
"Yeah, tara na." I looked at Jance and nagpaalam kami ni Ella. "Sis, I have a problem."
"Ha? Ano naman yon?"
"I think nagkakagusto na naman ako sa isa nating kaibigan."
"Jance?" Ella asked but I didn't answer her. "Aww sweet baby."
