Kiara Sky
Scarlett Sky had grown a little bigger than I last saw her and although she still had that plump to her body and golden brown hair, I could see what the years had done on her. I didn't expect puberty to do so much to her height or that she would someday grow taller than my short five feet two inches but that's not the point. At the end of the day, I still have an average height.
You know what it's like when you've been eager to see someone and then you finally meet the person and you get very unexpected vibes, that's exactly what happened. When Scarlett saw me from the distance, she gave me a small smile while she remained in her seat and there I was wanting to give her a big hug.
That's what happens when you stay with the Sky family a little too long. I remember when I was still like her, I scarcely showed emotions and it wasn't because I didn't want to. It's because we were taught it wasn't ladylike, as mother would continually scold. One month away from the house I felt back on track. She, well, let's just hope for the best.
"Hello Kiara, it's been a very long time"
"Scarbear" I laughed, things feeling a little too awkward now that she was in front of me. Like, get yourself together Kiara, it's just your little sister.
"Mother says you're doing so well now, I can see that," She said, eyes scanning the whole house "It's beautiful that you've secured such an amount of wealth, Kiara, I hope to someday be like you"
Nope, you don't.
"Oh, that" I laughed again "It's a beautiful thing, isn't it?"
"Yes. Your fiancé, my soon-to-be brother-in-law, granted me such an opportunity. I'm more than excited to see you"
"You don't seem excited"
"I am. To prove it, I brought you a gift" She went through her purse and pulled out a very familiar item. The fist-sized, now rough and rumpled book was my diary and it held everything from my high school crush to the rebellious things I did as a teen.
I felt a rush of memories. It was one of the very few things I could pour my heart out into and I can remember getting in trouble once or twice when it fell into the wrong hands. The last day I had the little thing was the day I ran away and I used it to secure the window open the very night of my escape.
"Something to remind you of your past"
When she handed it over to me, I couldn't help but flip the first page open and as expected, the first thing written on it was the name of my high school crush. Quarterback Billy Hathaway. The boy took a large chunk of my imagination, yet I never got to be anything but the girl who handed out water bottles to the players.
I didn't get as close as being a cheerleader and before you point fingers, I applied four times and didn't get in.
"Aww, this is cute. You didn't happen to go through it, did you?"
