"And yet we couldn't come up with one"
A last swipe and all the makeup on my face was gone. It was evening, a little past seven, and Luke and I had gone through the whole day doing nothing. It was the first time in a very long time that Luke was not busy running around for his boss or I just sitting and thinking of what would become of me in this house.
After the interview, we left the area immediately. Luke, for one reason or the other, was a lot more upset about it than I expected. It's not like he was the one sitting in front of the cameras.
"Do you think Antonio's upset with this?"
"Do you think he wouldn't be?" He asked "Mr Russel likes his things untouched"
"And I've heard that a million times now and I still don't get it. The video's not going out, it's not going to be on TV"
"Words travel faster than you think Kiara, it's a lot worse when the people at the top don't like you"
"And I don't think it's possible that anyone likes me, I'm not like the other women. I worked in a coffee shop, remember? And that's so bad and uncool so everyone has to hate me for it." I said, sarcasm dripping in my words "You know this doesn't even make any sense"
"It's going to sooner or later. You can't have any stain on you if this is going to go on for five years"
"You have a solution?"
"Oh, Sweetheart, you have no idea"
There was something about those words that made my mind run in a million directions. As much as I knew a little about Antonio, I knew anything could go wrong. I've seen him hold out a gun, I've seen the places they go and maybe there could be more hidden from me.
"You're not killing anyone"
"It's funny you think that's all we do" He laughed, as he played with the hem of my sheets. It's funny a man like Luke would go from a suit and dark glasses to pink socks and a ducky robe.
Don't ask.
"I've seen him with a gun"
"She tried to kill us first"
"Doesn't change the fact he had a gun and his office. I know about that too"
"How'd you know?"
"Was I not supposed to know?"
"Not yet"
"I wonder how many other things I don't know"
