In the dim glow of the streetlights, I walked with purpose, my gaze fixed intently on my phone screen displaying the GPS app.
With each step, I navigated the unfamiliar streets, my determination masking a hint of worry about getting lost.
However, as I neared my destination, a wave of relief washed over me when the familiar outline of the supermarket came into view.
A small spark of joy flickered in my eyes as I realized I had found my way. With a contented smile, I quickened my pace, eager to see my 'new friend' Daniel at the store, or should I say my friend's other body?
With the air of nonchalance masking my true excitement, I stroll into the store.
I tried my hardest not to look too much at Daniel, but I was basically biting my lips because of how thrilling this was to me.
My eyes scanned the shelves looking for anything, or something to pick up.
He himself looked a bit surprised to see me here, as he kept his head down. I chuckled at his obvious attempt to ignore me.
I feigned interest in random bags of chips, picking them up. I went up to the cashier
My movements were awkward.
I casually placed my chosen items down, fighting the grin trying to escape
Daniel was being shy too. Of course, meeting your friends would make you nervous in his situation.. he doesn't want to be caught.
Still his reaction was very adorable, my inner-self was fawning over this.
"You're very cute" I said to myself
or so I thought.
His cheeks flushed with a rosy hue. His eyes widened in surprise, and a shy, bashful smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
He blinked, momentarily taken aback by the unexpected compliment, unsure of how to respond.
I too was stunned. I didn't mean to say that out loud ,but yet the words were hanging in the air. I can't believe myself! Is this what they call hell?
I had reddened from the amount of embarrassment.
"Huh.?" he said in shaken but low voice. My mouth formed a "O" of dismay. My gaze was flickering restlessly between him & the ground.
What kind of stupid situation is this?! God please take my life already!
"I... I mean I am sorry! You looked like.. someone I knew!" I nervously tried to explain. Yet again I am met with my inability to lie.
Hopefully he didn't catch on though.
He looked down as he continued to scan the items. Mouthing the most silent & depressed "Oh".
The tension finally lifted off my shoulders like a heavy weight lifted, can't believe he bought that!
The scanning felt like it took ages, which made me wonder what was going on in his mind.
Was he cringing? Or was he questioning how embarrassing somebody could be?
Why do I do this to myself?
He placed my things in a plastic bag as I pay & walk out quickly. I didn't want to be in his sight anymore, enough embarrassing things for today! There's only so much I could handle.
As I stepped out into the enveloping darkness of night, I found myself muttering quite admonishments under my breath, I was mentally scolding myself.
But soon I realized that the situation I am in is quite dangerous.
