Just a little crossover thing in a little AU where Clarkson, Hammond, and May are background riders in the Rohirrim.

This doesn't have any relation to my other Top Gear and Lord of the Rings one-shot, An Angry Little Hobbit, it's just a random little piece I managed to get out while watching the Return of the King. However, I do have a long Top Gear and Lord of the Rings crossover fic planned. However, I won't be posting it until the entire thing is complete (and when I say long, I mean long. Only written the first five chapters so far, and currently working on chapter six, and it's already nearly 23k words long. I anticipate it'll be around 100k-200k words long once finished).

Anyway, enjoy!

Riding up with the rest of the Rohirrim, ready to take on the Uruk-hai, Richard finds himself glancing between both James and Jeremy, both on their own horse's On either side of him. And they look just as nervous, but ready for battle as he does, as they gaze upon the legions of Uruk-hai and orcs on the field between them and Minas Tirith.

This is... potentially going to be the biggest battle that they've been a part of, next to the battle at Helm's Deep, and Richard just hopes that the three of them make it out of this one alive. Because he doesn't know what he'd do without either of them.

He loves them both too much, and he doesn't want to lose them.

Unfortunately though, even if they make it out of this battle alive, he has a bad feeling that this won't be the last battle they're to take part in. He feels that there's still more to come. At least until the Ring is destroyed.

But he doesn't want to think about any more potential battles. All he wants to focus on right now, is surviving this battle.

Any other battles to come, he can think about once they happen.

His grip on the reins and his spear tightens as he spots King Théoden riding up and down the line at the front, no doubt giving orders to Éomer, Gamling, and Grimbold. And then Théoden is erupting into speech, addressing the entire Rohirrim.

"Arise, arise, riders of Théoden! Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered! A sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!"

"If I don't make it through this..." Jeremy starts, catching both Richard and James's attention. "Just know that I love you both."

"As do I." James says.

Richard nods in agreement. Being the youngest been the three of them, he knows that he's, well... got more of an advantage than both James and Jeremy, and has a slightly higher chance of survival. But there's no guarantee that any of them will survive this battle or not.

But Jeremy in particular, being the oldest out of the three of them... if one of them was more likely to....

No....

He dare not think about that.

He doesn't want to think about the very real possibility of losing either of the two men he loves most.

So he puts his attention back onto the situation at hand, and readies himself for the charge forward, listening to Théoden's speech.

"Ride now, ride now, ride! Ride for ruin, and the world's ending!"

Then Théoden is calling out "death!", with the entire Rohirrim, including Richard himself and James and Jeremy, repeating him, joining in on the call.

"Fourth Eorlingas!"

A horn blows, signaling the charge. And taking a deep breath, Richard charges, along with the entire Rohirrim. James and Jeremy right at his side.

They charge into battle.

Richard just hopes they make it out alive....
