CHESTERS POV:

Things had been different with Parker lately. Recently, as they would go out to help people with their 'creature problems' (Chester used to call them 'monster problems', but Parker said it sounded too harsh, so he switched it), Parker had been introducing Chester as his partner.

At first he was confused, Parker would always just refer to him as his friend, so the switch up was strange, but eventually Chester settled into the idea that they must have been dating if Parker was calling him his partner, and maybe he just couldn't remember when they decided it.

Chester had been getting bolder with his flirting, subtle arm touches and random compliments, small things he thought Parker would appreciate since Chester knows he isn't a big fan of full-on affection.

Closing the door behind himself, Chester was immediately hit with the smell of spaghetti wafting over to him from the kitchen.

Following the scent, he was ecstatic to see the dining table layed out with a nice white sheet and a few lit candles.

Turning his attention to Parker, who's stood with his back turned to him, wearing his 'kiss the cook' apron as he stirs and mixes...something, into a pot of spaghetti. He isn't quite sure what, cooking isn't his strong suit.

Feeling extra affectionate tonight after seeing the beautiful surprise dinner, Chester walks up behind Parker and wraps his arms around his waist in a hug.

"Hey Park! I'm home early. This looks and smells amazing!"

Chester gleams excitedly, nuzzling his face into the back of Parkers neck.

PARKERS POV:

Chester had been acting weird lately. It had started about a month ago with small, weird glances and subtle winks. Parker wasn't sure why or what was going on with Chester, but he had decided to ignore it like he did with most other problems in his life.

The feeling of arms wrapping around his waist as he was cooking startled him, but what he wasn't expecting was to hear Chester's voice.

Setting down the wooden spoon he was using to stir with, he lightly pushed Chester away with his elbow before turning around to face him.

"What are you doing?"

He questions in a confused tone, his eyebrows furrowed as Chester took a step away from him.

"Just hugging you! Why? Do you not want me to? Cause that's fine! I won't if you don't want me to."

Chester's answer just fuels Parkers deep confusion, narrowing his eyes as if he's trying to figure out whether this is a prank.

"What? No- well, I mean, yeah, I don't want you to. But why are you hugging me?"

Parker raises an eyebrow at his friend.

"Just...wanted to."

Chester shrugs his shoulders like it's no big deal, but Parker is still very much puzzled.

Following Chester's movement with his eyes, Parker watches as the brunette dips a finger into the spaghetti and sucks it off, making a few exaggerated moans of pleasure as Parker stands there with a look of bewilderment.

"Mmmh! This is delicious!"

"Thanks?...but this isn't for you. I thought you'd be out later than this."

Parker states, being met with an even more confused look from Chester than is on his own face.

"What? But the tables set and everything.."

Chester disappointedly gestures over to the romantic, candlelit table.

"Yeah...for my date."

CHESTERS POV:

What. The. Fuck?

Chester could swear he felt every emotion in one. Parker was cheating on him? And so openly too!? No, that didn't make sense to him, Parker isn't a cheater, or at least if he is, he'd be better at hiding it instead of telling it to his face.

"What!? Are you cheating on me!?"

The look of pure perplexion on Parkers face immediately tells Chester that he's wrong, but he doesn't understand what else it could be.

"Huh? What are you talking about? Cheating on you?"

They both just stand there with the most confused looks on their faces, if you walked in, you'd assume they just witnessed someone rise from their grave.

"Yeah! I mean...we are dating, right?"

Chester searches for reassurance on Parkers face, but finds none.

"Chester...do you think we're dating?"

Then it clicks in Chesters head. He had completely misread the situation, they were never dating to begin with, and now his expression is that of a shameful puppy that just did something it knows is wrong.

"Well...yeah. You called me your partner."

It clicks for Parker, too. That's why Chester's been so weird lately.

"I meant business partner!"

Chester just wants the earth to swallow him whole. How could he have been so dumb?

"Well...you should've specified that!"

"I didn't think I had to!"

Parker argues back before a thought pops into his head, raising an eyebrow as he looks at Chester with curiosity.

"Wait- so, you thought we were dating, and you just went along with it?"

'Shit'

Chester thinks as he stares at Parker with an open mouth, as if he's about to say something, but he doesn't. He doesn't know what to say.

"I- uh..yeah?.."

Is all Chester can stutter out, which earns an amused chuckle from Parker.

"So, you want to date me?"

"Well, I thought you wanted to date me first."

Parkers eyebrows raise in the familiar way he does when Chester says something dumb.

"So if I wanted to date you, you would say yes?"

There's a long pause of silence as Chester decides what to say, and what the best possible outcome of the situation could be.

"Yes.."

Chester answers the truth, expecting to be met with disgust or anger, but instead, a grin. Parker is grinning? Is he about to make fun of him? Tease him for having a crush on him? Chester's head spins with nerves.

"Well, I still have time to cancel with the girl. Do you wanna go on a date?"

Chester blinks a few times. Was this the best possible outcome?

"Yes?"
