Even though we had a really great first game, six out of our next eight games weren't the best. We had lost to Boston the following night, losing 3-2. Then Saturday after that, we lost to Montreal 3-2. We were lucky enough to beat Toronto, 4-1, but then again, the Leafs suck, so it wasn't that shocking.
After that loss, our next three games were sad. We had lost to Colorado 4-0, Las Vegas, 5-3 and to Boston again, 3-0. We had played Vegas again and had managed to scrap out a win against them in overtime, winning 4-3. Unfortunately after that, we had suffered our worst loss yet, losing to Arizona, 8-2.
The only good thing that came out of those games were the fact that Connor and I had scored our first NHL goals during the game against Boston, Connor scoring his first power play goal against our first game against Vegas, and I scored my first during our second game against them in overtime, scoring the game winner.
Together, the two of us racked up a total of eight goals and four assists, divided evenly between the two of us, the two of us somehow only scoring in games that the other person had. Whenever we played, there would never be a game where just Connor would score, or just I would score. It was always the two of us scoring. I don't know why, but it seemed kind of like a friendly rivalry between the two of us, which I didn't mind. See who would come out as the best rookie of the year.
Now, the Panthers were flying down to Chicago so we could play them.
"Yo, Matt, when do you get here?" I asked him over the phone.
"I dunno, Soph," he shrugged. "I think I get in around 2, why?"
"Is it a crime to ask when my brother is arriving so I know when I can see her again?" I questioned, acting hurt.
"Whatever, Soph," he replied, rolling his eyes. "Well, I gotta go, but I'll see you in Chicago, yeah?"
"Yeah, see ya then. You cool if I bring a few of my teammates as well? I don't know why, but they really want to meet you."
"Yeah, sure, why not?"
"Okay, I have to go, Alex and Kevin are yelling at me and Connor to get out of our apartment 'cause they want to do 'something' before practice." I told him. "I'll see you later, Matt."
"Bye, Soph," Matthew said before I hung up the phone.
"SOPHIE TKACHUK AND CONNOR BEDARD! IF YOU DON'T GET OUT HERE RIGHT NOW, I SWEAR-"
"Oh, my god, Kevin. Take a chill pill." I said, exiting the apartment, luggage in hand, joining Kevin and Alex in the apartment's hall. "You do realise that we don't leave for another four hours, yeah?"
"Yeah, but I want to play a quick game of hockey before we leave!" Kevin complained, acting like a giant baby.
"Kev," Connor sighed, exiting the apartment as well. "You do realise that we have a practice in an hour, then we have another practice tomorrow before playing the Panthers later, right?"
"Yes, but I want Sophie to show us how she plays road hockey!"
"Kev, I can teach you how I play road hockey with my brothers and the Hughes Brothers any time, right?" I asked. "Also, have you guys officially given up on the whole, 'don't let Sophie play hockey unless we have practice or a game' thingy?"
"We kind of had to quit that as soon as the season started, as Derek wanted us all to practice certain skills outside of practice. Also, if we stopped Sophie from playing road hockey, then we'd have Brady Tkachuk, Matthew Tkachuk, Quinn Hughes, Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes all over our cases, and I don't think any of us want that." Alex answered.
