(UPDATED)
I suddenly wake up, gasping for breath. "Holy sh—" My throat feels rough, so I force myself up, walking slowly to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. As I make my way back to my bedroom, a loud crash stops me in my tracks. "What the hell was that?"
A cold breeze hits me, and I shiver, rubbing my shoulders. My heart sinks when I notice the window—wide open, curtains flapping wildly in the night air. I'm sure I closed it before going to sleep. Confused, I approach to shut it when I feel it—a firm grip on my arm.
I freeze, my blood turning to ice as I look up, only to see a dark, shadowy figure pulling me towards the window.
"What do you want? Let me go!" I scream, my voice breaking with panic.
Before I can resist, I'm yanked through the window. My heart pounds as I squeeze my eyes shut, terror washing over me. Heights—I hate heights. The cold air rushes past me as I'm lifted into the sky.
When I finally open my eyes, I'm in the clouds. What the hell is happening? I can't breathe, my head spinning as minutes blur by. Then, just as suddenly, the figure releases me, and I'm falling—falling fast.
I brace myself, but instead of hitting the ground with a crash, I land softly on sand. Groaning, I push myself up, somehow unharmed. The sound of waves fills the air, and I stand there, dazed, staring at the shoreline in silence.
"Well, hello there..."
The voice startles me. I spin around to see a boy leaning casually against a tree. He's gorgeous—messy brown hair, piercing green eyes, and an outfit that looks like something out of a dream: a tattered green shirt with a belt at his waist, dark grey pants, and knee-high brown boots.
I blink, realizing I'm just... staring. He chuckles, a low sound that makes me flush.
"It's rude to stare, love."
Before I can respond, he's behind me, moving so fast it makes my heart race. I jump, startled. "H-How did you do that?" I mutter, barely able to form words.
"Magic." He waves his hands dramatically with a grin. "Now, mind telling me how you ended up on my island, divine?"
I freeze. He knows my name? A gasp escapes my lips. "How do you know my name?" I whisper, suddenly unsure of everything.
His smile widens. "I know everything, sweetheart." He steps closer, his presence overwhelming as he backs me into a tree. My back hits the rough bark, and when I look up, he's right in front of me—so close I can feel the warmth of his breath. His right arm presses against the tree next to my face, his other hand resting casually at my waist.
"You didn't answer my question, love." His voice drops lower, eyes locking onto mine, holding me in place.
My heart pounds against my ribs. "Um... this shadow... it brought me here. I don't know why," I mumble, my gaze falling to the ground, flustered. "And who even are you? What do you mean by 'your island'?"
He chuckles softly, tilting his head as his eyes scan me. "Oh, did I forget to introduce myself? I'm Peter. Peter Pan." He smirks. "And you, darling, are in Neverland—my island."
"Okay... would you, um, mind letting me go?" My heartbeat quickens as I try to compose myself, but he can sense the nervousness radiating off me.
"Why so nervous, love?" He grins, a dark amusement flickering in his eyes before he finally lets go. But before I can step away, his hand shoots out, grabbing my arm again.
"Hey! What are you doing?" I protest, but his grip is firm as he pulls me along.
"Taking you to meet the boys," he says casually, leading me deeper into the island. Then he stops abruptly, and I give him a confused look.
"Wha—"
Before I can finish, he blows something in front of my face—a shimmering dust that sparkles in the air. My eyelids grow heavy, and before I know it, I'm collapsing to the ground. Darkness swallows me as I feel his arms lift my unconscious body, cradling me as if I weigh nothing.
