Chapter 8: Sebek's Tsum I

In the Diasomnia Dorm Lounge...

Sebek's voice bellows across the lounge, "YOU SHALL PAY FOR YOUR TRANSGRESSIONS, TSUM!"

Soon, Lilia rushes into the lounge in a panic.

He asks, "Gracious, what's going on? I could hear Sebek yelling from my room. Don't tell me the strange Tsum has committed some unspeakable crime?!"

"Not quite, Father..." Silver says.

Turns out the Sebek Tsum is standing at the spot where Sebek originally stands by Malleus' side.

And Sebek is furious, "How many times must you interpose yourself between me and Malleus?! You have no seniority! How dare you stand closer to our liege than me! Remove yourself, Tsum! As his guardian, that is MY spot!"

Sebek tries to get the Sebek Tsum to move, but the Tsum refuses.

"Sebek and the Tsum have been quarreling nonstop over who gets to stand next to Malleus," Silver explains.

"I had a feeling," Lilia says, "After all, the Tsum takes after Sebek. It acted fond of Malleus from the moment we encountered it. Is Sebek truly letting his competitiveness get the better of him? How childish."

Then Silver walks to Sebek and says, "Settle down, Sebek. We're in the lounge, remember? You're making it hard for others to relax."

But Sebek shouts, "SILENCE! I shall not settle down!" And turns to the Tsum counterpart of himself, "And as for you— you've been following our liege everywhere like a baby chick. HOW IS HE SUPPOSED TO RELAX?! HAVE YOU NO REGARD FOR HIS PEACE OF MIND?!"

"That's what I constantly tell you..." Silver points out.

"What goes around, comes around," Lilia adds.

"Our liege is too kind to admonish you directly, but your conduct undoubtedly beleaguers him," Sebek says.

Then turns to Malleus, "Isn't that right, Malleus?"

"I don't mind, really. It's hardly different from what you normally do,"

And that's when the realization hits him, "You... You mean I inconvenience you as much as this creature?!"

"Let me finish," Malleus says.

He then continues, "I meant that the Tsum guards and assists me the same way you do, so I effectively have another retainer now."

"Wh..." Sebek says, surprised.

Sebek and his Tsum counterpart perk up.

Sebek shouts happily, "SUCH MAGNANIMITY! Rather than chastising the disrespectful Tsum, you welcome it as a retainer..."

Sebek Tsum happily hops up and down.

"Then Sebek says to the Tsum, "Truly, your actions benefit the heir apparent to Briar Valley! I, Sebek, shall follow you until the end of time!"

Happy to hear it, Sebek Tsum jumps onto Malleus's shoulder and clings to his face, nuzzling it.

Lilia happily says, "Aww, the Tsum is so moved it leapt up to nuzzle Malleus's face. It's positively delighted.

Sebek Tsum happily hops on Malleus' shoulder.

Malleus is rather surprised and remains silent.

Sebek sternly says to the Tsum, "Why... HAVE YOU NO DECORUM?! Remove yourself from our liege's noble visage this instant!"

Sebek then pushes the Tsum off.

Silver asks Mallues, "Are you okay, Malleus?"

"It was a tad warm," Malleus answers.

Lilia giggles, "Khee hee hee. Nothing wrong with the little scamp livening things up. And it's only until the Tsums go back home. Let's make sure we give it a warm welcome."

Sebek and the Tsum counterpart are now set and ready to carry out their duties.
