You hadn't been back to South Park since you left for college when you were 18, aside from the occasional trip home for holidays, which was reserved for family, so you were thrilled to receive an invitation to your 10 year high school reunion. You thought it would make for a good opportunity to catch up with your friends and classmates that you normally wouldn't have any reason to talk to.
A Facebook group was created for the party to provide information and RSVPs. You were one of the earlier members of the group, but saw that your high school lab partner Kyle Broflovski and your old neighbor Annie Knitts had already responded 'yes', so you opted for the same. Traveling from (your town) to South Park wasn't convenient, but you had enough motivation to make the trip.
Your parents picked you up from the airport, overjoyed that you could get the time off from (your dream job) to come back to town. Your work kept you very busy, but thankfully, you were excellent in your field, and able to devise a plan to keep things running smoothly in your absence.
As you set your bags down in your childhood bedroom, you took in the smell of the room. Mom still uses the same old fabric softener.
It made you nostalgic for your childhood, something that didn't happen often considering how much you loved your life since you left for college. Your dating life was exciting, but far from serious, since your work kept you on a tight leash, but you had good friends in your life, a spacious apartment, and a killer (your fav cuisine) restaurant right around the corner. You were honestly a little excited to show up to the reunion and share how good life was for you.
You spent the evening having dinner with your family and catching up. They were always asking about you, and hardly ever sharing the details of their lives since they often paled in comparison, but since you had plenty of time tonight, you were eager to tune in to the town's gossip.
"And Carol and Stuart McCormick are the same crazy drunks as ever," your dad commented as he sipped on his glass of red wine.
"I wonder what happened to their poor kids," you mused. Kevin, Kenny, and Karen McCormick were dealt an awful hand in life, and you wondered where life took them after high school.
"Karen's a guidance counselor at the elementary school, sweet little thing. I don't know about the boys," your mom explained.
You continued to chat with your parents over wine until they were ready to go to bed, earlier than your usual bedtime, but hey, they're old. You retired to your bedroom and snuggled up in your blankets, comforted by that same old fabric softener smell.
You considered trying to fall asleep, but curiosity got the better of you. You decided to open Tinder and see if any of your old classmates were trying to catch some ass while back in town. You updated your location to South Park, 10 mile radius, and you couldn't help but laugh as you swiped through the first few pictures.
Kenny McCormick holding up a fish in his picture and pointing to his dick. What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Stan Marsh with a receding hairline. At 28?! Jesus, that's bad.
Scott Malkinson looking dopey as ever. He was sweet, maybe because of the diabetes.
You decided that you didn't want to risk accidentally matching any of them, and deactivated your profile for the duration of your trip. You were satisfied with your nosiness and drifted off to sleep.

You stuck your name tag to the chest of your (y/f/c) dress as you walked through the doors of the high school gym. It seemed like they actually had a decorating budget, because string lights and silks covered the room. Even more surprisingly, they had a drink budget, where each guest got two tickets to hand in for a drink at the bar.
