"derek, we have to invite her, she's your sister." meredith says to her post it husband on the way down the stairs.
"then invite her meredith. i don't know what to tell you."
"well why don't you want to?" she asks.
"because i don't want to be disappointed when she doesn't show up." he sighs and looks up at her since she was the stair above him. "i've messed up with her a lot. even before this, back in new york. i don't think i have many mess ups left before she gives up on me." he looks down. meredith gives him a sad look as he packs up his bag.
"i think she will come. she'll bring liam-" derek grunts at that, "and she'll hang around with lexie and jackson. she will come." he looks over at his wife and gives her a small smile.
"alright then, invite her." he says and walks out the door to his car.
its later in the day, a lot of people from the hospital are gathered in derek and meredith's house. everyone is in their own conversations.

"go find lexie, i'm gonna go find mark or karev." faith grabs his arm.
"i found both of our people over there." she points to where lexie and alex are talking. the couple walk over to the semi couple and start talking.
"you came." lexie says to faith with a large smile and hugs her person.
"i did. i figured that even if derek and i aren't speaking, he's still my brother, and hes doing great things. he deserves support." faith replies. "it was all liam." she shrugged.
"i figured." lexie shrugs back. and the two women turn to alex and liam who are in a discussion over cars.
"i'm gonna go find arizona, are you alright with them or do you want to come with me? liam could talk about cars all night." faith whispers to lexie.
