13. The Secret Riddle

Lilly's POV
Katie was moved to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries the following day. It was spread accross the whole school and the information was jumbled. Only, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Leanne, and I were the ones to know Katie herself, wasn't the target... Harry kept going on and on about his Malfoy-Is-A-Death-Eater theory. Which really became quite annoying.
Anyway, Harry went to his lesson on Monday at eight, he thought Dumbledore would miss it, however, through he was tired, Dumbledore was there.
Harry discussed Katie's situation. She touched the necklace in the smallest hole on her glove. Professor Snape luckily stopped the spread of the curse. Harry tried to find out where Dumbledore was this past weekend, but Harry didn't find out anything. Dumbledore assured Harry that he would tell him, later on. Harry mentioned Mundungus stealing Black heirlooms and Dumbledore assured Harry that Mundungus would not touch anything else.
Then Harry talked to Dumbledore about his theory of Malfoy and Dumbledore replied, "I shall take all appropriate measures to investigate anyone who might have a hand in Katie's accident, but what concerns me now, Harry, is our lesson."
Dumbledore told Harry that Merope was left alone in London and broke. She had decided to sell the Salazar Slytherin locket, Marvolo's only prized possession. She got ten Galleons from Caractacus Burke. She refused to use magic after Tom left her. She didn't want to use magic after any of the things that happened, she was weakened by loss and long suffereing, in turn, she did not raise her wand to save her own life...
Dumbledore went to the orphanage where Voldemort was raised in and Dumbledore said Tom was offered a place in his school. His mother arrived one night and the orphanage took her in and she had the baby within the hour, she named him and then soon died within the next hour.
Tom apparently had been a sort of bully to the other students. They went on a trip one time and he brought two other children into a cave, but the students were never the same. Dumbledore said that he would have to return Tom each summer, but he would be gone majority of the time.
Dumbledore met Tom and Tom thought that Dumbledore was going to take him to an asylum and Dumbledore explained that Tom was a wizard. He set Tom's wardrobe on fire, but the flames disappeared without the wardrobe harmed. Dumbledore had Tom take a box out of his wardrobe. He was to return everything that wasn't stolen with his appologies. Dumbledore explained that Tom must live by rules that are at Hogwarts and rules that are set up by the Ministry. Dumbledore handed Tom a Galleon after Tom said he didn't have any money. Dumbledore was going to help him, but Tom insisted to go on his own. Tom didn't like his name and he wondered which parent in his family was magical. He thought it was his father, otherwise his mother wouldn't have died.
Tom said he could speak to snakes and asked if that was normal. Dumbledore replied, "It is unusual, but not unheard of."
They discussed that Tom was particularly happy and took it well that he was a wizard. Harry asked Dumbledore if he knew the most dangerous Dark wizard of all time; no. His powers were highly developed in his younger age, but even if he was a Parselmouth, he didn't show any signs of being particularly evil other than he used his magic to hurt other children.
Tom hated his name and chose another name, he did not want companionship nor help on his trip to Diagon Alley. Older Voldemort, was the same, though some Death Eaters claim to be close to him, Tom does not want companionship. Harry was told to also notice that Tom stole from the people he bullied, like trophies.
