Lilly's POV
Harry and Ron were cleared Monday morning by Madam Pomfrey. Harry was especially happy because Hermione and Ron were friends again. Harry was also very glad because Ginny and Dean got into a row again. As the trio walked to the Great Hall a girl looking at a tapestry of trolls looked at them frightened and dropped her brass scales. Hermione mended them and they continued to walk to the hall. Luna caught up with Harry and gave him a scroll from Dumbledore. His next lesson was tonight. After Luna left, Ron saw Lavender and Harry and Hermione went ahead of the lovely couple. When Ron sat down, might I add alone, for breakfast he looked sulky and annoyed.
Hermione in particular was in a very good mood through the day. She had a inexplicable smirk cross her face. That evening in the common room, she had concented to fixing, inevitably finnish writting, Harry's Herbology essay.
Harry went to his lesson with Dumbledore and come accross Professor Trelawney. She was still not happy with Firenze teaching.
Dumbledore wasn't pleased with Harry in the beginning of his lesson for not getting the memory he had hoped for, but Harry promised he would get it for him.
Dumbledore explained to Harry about Voldemort and his immediate life after Hogwarts. Voldemort had, at first, wanted to be a teacher at Hogwarts. He wanted to teach Defence Against the Dark Arts, but he was turned down for being too young, even if he was gifted...His teachers and peers expected him to go into the Ministry for Magic, but instead went to work at Borgin and Burkes. Being young and charming, Voldemort was sent to persuade people to part with their treasures for sale by the partners. He was unusually gifted at it.
Hokey, a house-elf, worked for Hepzibah Smith and Voldemort went to collect something of hers. A woman, very flamboyant appeared and Voldemort came in asking for some in Burke wantdd. Ms. Smith showed Tom something. A cup of Helga Hufflepuff and a locket of Salazar Slytherin.
Ms. Smith died two days later and Hokey admitted to it. She knew she put something in her mistresses tea, but thought it was sugar. Tom had modified Hokey's memory and stole the locket and cup.
It seemed that Voldemort killed for his own personal gain, not for revenge.
The second and final memory of the night was Dumbledore's. Voldemort had inquired about the job again, but Dumbledore refused immediately without a second thought. Unfortunately, Dumbledore has not been able to keep a Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher more than a year after he refused to give the job to Voldemort.

A very particular Muggle saying applies to this situation perfectly... 'If I can't have it, nobody else can have it.' I daresay that that is quite terrible...
