Chapter 2

Your eyes, those curves
It's like you're from some
Other world...

Jack

I managed to make it through AP European History without making myself look like a complete idiot in front of Elsa.

I was still shocked that she even spoke to me.

When the bell rang, dismissing us to our next class, I packed everything up and put my belongings into my backpack.

I looked over at Elsa and she grinned at me.

"What's your next period?" She asked and watched as I got hold my journal before putting it into my backpack with the rest of my belongings.

We walked out the classroom side-by-side.

"AP calculus." I replied, having to look down at her to maintain eye contact.

"Oh, cool. Well, I have biology. I should probably head over there. I'll see you around? Bye Jack!" Elsa said and waved to me as she walked away to her next classroom.

I watched as she did so and I felt eyes on me as I walked down the hallway by myself.

I turned around when I felt someone tap my shoulder, and caught sight of Sandy.

"Oh, hey Sandy." I said.

He gave me a questioning look, glancing in the direction where Elsa walked before looking back at me.

"Yeah, she sits next to me in AP European History."

His eyes widened and I chuckled at his reaction.

We began walking side-by-side down the hallway in silence.

Sandy waved at me as we approached his classroom. I waved back and he walked inside.

I walked into AP calculus. I looked over at the mounted clock on the wall at the front of the room, realizing that I was 6 minute early. As I was about to take my usual seat, a girl ran into me, causing me to fall and hit the ground, with her on top of me.

"Oh gosh, I'm sorry." She mumbled, her Scottish accent ringing through my ears. She quickly got off of me and offered a hand, helping me up.

I got back onto my feet, dusting myself off before looking at who bumped into me.

My eyes widened.

"Hey! I know you! I see you around here often. Jack right?" She said and picked up the book she dropped.

Dang. I'm really lucky today.

"Uh. Yeah. Hi, Merida." I said and mentally face palmed at my inability to speak properly to people who intimidate me.

"Yep that's me. Mind if I sit next to you?" She said, and I nodded in response. We walked over to my desk, and I pulled out the chair for her to sit down in.

I sat in the chair next to her.

"I hate to say this. But I'm curious about you. You seem so mysterious. Mind telling me a little about yourself?" She said and pulled out a fruit snack from her backpack. She started eating it.

"Sure. I guess. Um, I've been here since I was a freshmen. So I'm a senior." I said, unsure of what to say.

"Same. What else?" She said and gave me a fruit snack.

I put it in my mouth, chewing on it.

"Nothing else, really. I guess it's weird knowing that people like you actually know who I am. Or see me." I said and she raised an eyebrow in confusion.
