Chapter 10
It ain't no lie,
I have to tell
You how I feelJack
The next day at school was like any other from the past few weeks. It was the middle of the school day, the passing period right before lunch.
Hiccup and I were standing in the hallway by my locker, chatting as we normally do.
"So, what happened yesterday at the cafe? Things seemed pretty tense after Elsa spilled coffee on you." He asked curiously.
"I guess she freaked out when Dylan walked in the cafe. She was wiping the coffee off of my shirt until Dylan walked into the hallway we were in. I don't know... Elsa seemed off when he showed up." I said, just as confused as he was.
"Did she ever tell you why she broke up with him in the first place?" Hiccup asked, and I shook my head.
"What happened?"
"In all honestly, he was a dick. We never really liked him... But Elsa did, for some reason. He didn't want people to know they were dating so they kept it a secret the entire time they were together. I think they only dated for a few months." Hiccup explained and I frowned.
"Why wouldn't he want people to know he's dating Elsa?"
"I'm honestly not really sure... I don't know exactly what happened because Elsa doesn't like bringing him up, but, I think he was flirting with other girls, too." He said and I attempted to stay calm as those words left his mouth.
"I already don't like him." I mumbled.
"Yeah, I hope he leaves her alone this school year." Hiccup said with a sigh. After a few more minutes, Merida and Rapunzel walked up to us.
"Hey, guys." Rapunzel said with a small smile.
We greeted her and Merida gave us both a small wave.
"Have you guys seen Elsa?" Merida asked, prompting us to shake our heads in response.
"I haven't seen her since my class with her this morning." I said, frowning.
As we wondered where she was, I spotted her walking towards us from another hallway.
"Oh, there she is." I said and they all turned to look at her, watching her as she approached us. She had her textbooks clutched against her chest as she stepped towards us, and she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
She stopped in her tracks once she stood between Merida and Punzie.
"Hey guys. Everything okay?" She asked, glancing at all of us.
"Yeah... are you okay?" Rapunzel asked, frowning.
"Yes, I'm fine, guys. Seriously." She emphasized, reassuring us with a small smile.
"We just... got worried after yesterday at the cafe, that's all." Merida explained and Elsa sighed before nodding.
"Yeah, I know. I appreciate all of you guys, you know. I can handle these things, and I promise that if I need any help or comfort, I'll tell you." She responded, and Punzie rubbed her back comfortingly.
"Okay, Elsa. Let's head over to the cafeteria for lunch, then." Merida said with a small grin, and we all made our way to the cafeteria after she spoke.
We all got our food after falling in line, and sat down at a table to eat. Elsa sat down next to me and gave me a small smile.
"You sure you're okay?" I asked her, taking a bite from my apple that I got for lunch.
