Ember's POV~
Alastor and I spent what was left of our Sunday off lazing around. Enjoying some casual light house cleaning. Moving his clothes into my closet. Officially jumping off the cliff into the void of relationships— amidst soft sheets and anywhere else really— letting love in, and hoping that the fates will be kind in return. My heart feels so incredibly full.
Taking Monday as a personal day closing the shop for the day. Thankfully the others were okay with that, for their own reasons. Alastor allowed me to drag him along by the arm, we headed to a few thrift shops in town that I enjoy. Doing some quick shopping, mostly wanting to find him some extra clothes or needed things.
We found a couple great finds for the home. Which entail three picture frames, a handful of large old keys I could use for wall art, and two new flower pots. Giddy with playfulness we laugh and giggle acting like a couple of sweethearts. Looking through the overstuffed shelves and racks.
I find us goofing around with the odd top hat or two. We tried on different clothing items that caught our eyes. Walking out of the dressing rooms. Putting on little fashion shows for one another. Sweet compliments, and breath-taking stolen kisses behind curtains.
Elated by the thick ruffled purple shirt and boho spaghetti strap tank. Bonus of a clearly handcrafted black knitted shawl. Metal tree of life hair pin. Almost leaping with excitement twirling around with bags in hand.
"Well, look at you." A flirtatious whistle sounded off behind me.
Realizing that Alastor hadn't come out of the changing stalls. He peeked his head out with that handsome smile. Cheeks are heating with a blush running down my neck. I stuck my tongue out in a sassy pout.
"Oh shush you devil," I shoo him back into the stall.
A fully raspy chuckle rumbles through my bones, "I didn't say anything! Why am I getting shushed?"
A large smile hurt my cheeks, "Because you should hurry up— so we can—"
"Continue on with our exploration of each other both physically and spiritually."
I chuckle, shaking my head from side to side. "You aren't wrong, but that is for later."
"I didn't hear a no," Alastor chimes in.
"Hurry up, before I have to punish you." I teased.
"Oh-ho! Kinky!"
Silence softly blanketed us with comfort. I kept my eyes on the life tree pin, my smile unmovable from my cheeks. Mesmerized by this treasured find in my hands. It felt as though I was being drawn to it. Before I realized what was going on I had gentle hands cup mine. Firmly holding me from behind in a hug, as his chin now rests on my shoulder.
Alastor burying his nose into the crook of my neck. "What has caught my little witch's attention? Hmm." Sultry speaking into my ear. His breath gently tickles across my skin.
What is this man doing to me?
Making my smile grow even wider. Nuzzling my cheek into him. Still unable to take my eyes off of the metalwork. Bringing my hand up to show off the beautiful accessory.
"It's a hair pin, in the shape of the tree of life," answering the devil on my shoulder. "It's a common and strong symbol to us witches."
He kisses the helix of my ear. "What does this tiny trinket mean?" That respectful curiosity of his goes right to my heart.
Leaning back into him without a care for the eyes that watch us. Enjoying Alastor's inquisitive nature about things that matter to me. Loving that idea of not being alone in this world for the moment.
