Embers POV~
Finished with my morning ritual of journal writing. Turning around pressing play on some music to get the day started, and dancing around without a care in the world to get dressed.
Picking out a black pixie crop top with leaf embroidery, a high-waisted floor length skirt with earth tones patch work. A huge goofy smile across my lips, dancing like no one was watching. Touching up my raspberry long hair with a little burgundy color spell. As I threw it about like a hurricane.
Even with my cat family watching on, their judgemental scowls wouldn't stop me from enjoying the moment. Moving my way over to the scratched up vintage makeup table with a large antique mirror. Now singing along to the up-beat music.
Doing a muted natural look today, with many shades of woody tone browns; finishing it off with a dark green lip. Brushing through the waist-length mass of hair, giving the ends a loose curl. Checking my straight bang for any stray strands.
"All done my babies! Time for a quick breakfast!!" Shouting playfully as all kitties pitter patter behind closely. Almost too close as both Ollie and Ziggy get under foot.
Walking down the steps I pause, laying fingers on a framed picture of my mother. "Miss you mom." Whispering to myself in some way hoping she hears those softly spoken words. Taking a moment to remember her, only to be rudely yelled at by my lovable linebacker of a void, Lily. Demanding her breakfast right then. Shooting her a sassy grin before continuing on down the stairs. The old wood floors creaked every other step. Saying good morning to each house cat., to which having nine definitely kept my home lively. There were the siblings: Star, and her brother Zimba, whom I rescued as kittens. Carby, who I got from the shelter as an elderly girl, and Spunky, the sassy grandpa. Meow with his cute little self, the beast of a void, Lily. Ziggy, my spazz with the attitude. With that just leaving Momma and her baby Ollie. They each won over my heart and brought a warmth I couldn't say no to.
Getting to the back of the home where the kitchen was, the walls a pleasant pastel green. Molding, cabinets and doors a deep calming roasted espresso. With river stone quartz kitchen countertops. Plants, crystals, jars of ingredients, knick knacks and candles on shelves. Drying out herbs and flowers strung up on the wall.
As breakfast cooked on the stovetop, the kitties either hung out or ate their food. While I prepared a simple cleansing spell on an altar to Freyja. Using regular salt, black salt, sage, a lemon slice in a bowl with a lit candle. Whispering a small incantation under my breath. Smiling wide as a refreshed clean feeling washed over me; feeling lighter on my feet and in my heart.
Continuing to dance about while eating eggs, packing a messenger bag for the day. Adding some extra canned surprises for a special group of friends. Lacing up my favorite leather boots, throwing on my best crochet robe. Shouting goodbyes to the feline family. As I run out the door practically skipping with joy. Nothing was going to take this day away.
On the walk to the family owned bookstore named, The Amethyst & Tomes, it was a business my mother started up at the silly childish request of mine. My love of knowledge, learning, books and especially of all, all things magic. Prompted this baby witch at the ripe age of six to ask to share this love. Enjoying memory lane while walking to visit with some of the most beloved friends.
Ignoring all the glares of the usual judgment townsfolk, sheltering their kids' eyes from my direction. Moving to the other side of the street to avoid getting near. I had grown used to the side eyes, the harassment, and all of the judgment over the years. An isolation that only got worse the day my mother vanished. Putting on a brave front, but inside was a very different story. Finally, rounding the corner to an alley belonging to a massive colony of cats that I had become attached to. They had become a second family to me. Enjoying my visits to the Devil's Den. It was so happily nicknamed by the ignorant locals.
Reaching into my bag to grab their surprise, stopping dead in my tracks. Frozen in time with bewilderment, stunned by the sight of a strange horned man sitting there. No one else ever dares come to the colony. My ivy tea green eyes widened with shock.. Lips parted as my jaw dropped watching on as the scene unfolded.
He sat on the dirt and trash covered ground, leaning his back against the exposed brick of the building. A few of the felines were resting in his lap, another stretched out lazily across his shoulders. His long black hair clearly pulled to one side to not be in the way of the napping fluffy baguette. Noticing a gentle smile curled across his lips, with a hand reached out petting one of the chunky boys of the colony. Who appeared to be loving the chin scratches. Listening carefully, making out a faint raspy chuckle. Glancing over to see what exactly he was looking at.
Kittens, who were playing with what looked to be a stick toy of some kind. Playing without a care in the world. While the others surrounded him and watched from where they each were comfortable.
"Wow." Slipped from my lips, wondering if I was dreaming.
