Lana treaded carefully, maintaining a near-silent footfall against the crisp leaves as their group advanced along the train track. She chose to walk slightly apart from the others, trailing behind Glenn, who led the way, and pacing herself ahead of Tara and Eugene. Her gaze remained fixed on the ground in front of her, her mind a blank canvas after the hours of relentless walking they had endured. Lost in her thoughts, Lana absorbed the rhythmic crunch of leaves and tuned out the small conversation happening from behind her.

Amidst the monotony, a small glimmer beneath the leaves caught Lana's attention, prompting a pause in her steps. Bending down, she carefully sifted through the leaves, revealing a small penny. Holding it up into the light, Lana admired the glint reflecting off its surface. Tara and Eugene came to a stop beside her, their eyes fixed on the metal placed on her skin.

Eugene's voice chimed in from her right. "Oh hell yeah, score. A few more of those, a little aluminum foil, and some bleach, you got yourself some volts, sister. A homemade battery."

Lana momentarily shot him a dirty look, before her eyes lit up and she extended her hand to offer the penny to him. "Take it."

"Really?" Eugene responded, his excitement evident.
