"as long as I'm with you" ~ Eddie Munson

chapter 11 "upside-down"

When the others arrived at Skullrock Dustin and Steve were arguing. Right when Steve called Dustin a butthead Eddie jumped down from a rock to scare them. "I have to agree, you, Dustin Henderson,  are indeed, a total butthead." "Eddie!" Dustin screamed happily hugging Eddie. "Gosh we thought they got you" Dustin said as he led go of Eddie. "Yeah I thought that too for a second" Eddie replied.

The others were talking about their next step of finding Vecna,  still struggling with the fact that they had no gate to get to him. "BOOM!" Dustin suddenly shouted making them all look up at him confused.  "Bada   Bada   Boom!" He said again. "What the fuck?" Steve replied in a sassy and confused tone. "I was right! Skullrock was north, the compas was wrong, but it was still working right when we left Nancy's House but started to go crazy the closer we got to skullrock." "So your damn compass is broken what exactly is your point?" Steve asked again. "Not exactly. A compass is always located by the magnetic field of the earth except, something is influencing it. And, Lucas, what was it that could influence a compass?" Dustin asked Lucas proudly.  "An electromagnetic field..." Lucas said, slowly catching up with Dustin's thought process. "Exactly,  so either there's an extremely big electromagnet somewhere her or...." "or there's a gate!" Lucas finished Dustin's sentence. "Exactly! Now, it wouldn'tbe as big as the others, it would be a pretty smal gate" Dustin said. " a dwarf gate" Robin said. "But we're nowhere near the lab" Nancy brought up. "Fair point, but there's only one way to find out" Dustin said enthusiastically. "Whoa whoa whoa, hold up, Eddie is still a wanted man, he can't just be walking around like that!" Steve interrupted. "But this might be our only way to find Vecna and save both Eddie and Max!" Dustin argued. "Well I think if anything Eddie should decide." Robbin said. Everyone including y/n now looked at Eddie. "Well, I'd say you Dustin,  are asking me to go to Mordor, which, to be honest I think is a bad idea, but...the shire...the shire is burning,  so Mordor it is." Eddie said getting up. Dustin was jumping up and down excited. And with that, they started following the direction the compass gave them.

Eddie grabed Dustin by his shirt, stopping him from stepping into the water. "I know these woods seemed familiar..." Eddie said. They were standing at the shore of lovers lake.  A cold shiver was running down y/n's spine as the pictures came back in her head. Eddie must have noticed the look on her face and grabbed her hand. "The gate is in lovers lake?" Robbin asked confused. They went to the place where Eddie and y/n had left the boat. Steve was holding it in place for everyone to get in. Eddie got in first, holding out his hand to help y/n, Robbin and Nancy in. Then Dustin wanted to get in too. "Whoa what do you think your doing? Your trying to sink us? This boat holds 4 people,  max." Eddie said in a strickt tone. Dustin looked at him annoyed. Steve pushed the boat into the water then jumped in himself. "Hey I thought only 4 people?!" Dustin said angrily.  "Sorry I can't babysit again!" Steve shouted to him as they were drifting away from the shore.

"Whoa whoa whoa stop" Robin suddenly said, the compass going totally crazy in her hands. They had to be right over the gate. Suddenly Steve took of his shirt "What are you doing?" Robin asked him. "Well someone has to go down there and investigate it" he said. Eddie quickly took his flashlight and wraped it in a plastic bag, then he handed it to Steve. "Be careful" Nancy said. Seriously the feeling between them were so obvious, they were the only ones that didn't see it. With that, Steve jumped in the water.

After a while that felt way too long, Steve came back up to the boat. "I found it" he said. He was just about to get back into the boat when something pulled his leg, he looked confused at the others and suddenly he got pulled under water. Without hesitation Nancy jumped after him. Followed by Robin. "Oh no fuck!" Eddie screamed.  "Yeah I'd say we're not staying up her alone" y/n said, jumping into the water as well. Now it was just Eddie in the boat, cussing he jumped in too.

In the Upside-down Steve was fighting for his life, one creature that looked like a bat had its tail wrapped around his throat,  two others were biting chunks of flesh out of his stomach. Y/n grabed a paddle, smacking one of the bat's on his stomach so hard it flew a few meters away. They all started fighting the bat's with literally everything they could. Eventually the bat's stopped fighting them and instead sat around the gate to guard it. Y/n, Eddie and the others were just debating Wether they could fight them, when they saw a whole army of bat's approaching at the horizon.  "Run!" Nancy said "Run to the trees!" Everyone started running as fast as they could,  watching every step to not step on any of the ranks. They ran into the woods and keept running until the reached skullrock again. Well....at least the creepy upside-down version of it.
