"Kurapika! Don't walk away from me! What's gotten into you?!" Y/n questions him, agitated.
Kurapika cuts a corner into the other room, which Y/n follows.
"Kurapika! Quit ignoring me!" Y/n keeps shouting at him.
"Y/n," the anger in Kurapika's voice is potent.
"Why are you acting like this?! It's only been a year!"
"Y/n! Leave me alone before I hurt you!" Kurapika's eyes are full of rage.
"Kurapika..?"
No other words are shared. Y/n walks away, devastated. This is not the Kurapika they grew to love.
They walk into the living room. They didn't get a good look earlier. It is a single burgundy couch with two throw pillows placed randomly, across from a mattress on the ground that has a pile of blankets neatly folded in the corner, a few more pillows, and a TV on the wall. On the other wall, there's a closet full of blue kimonos. Y/n realizes that nobody must ever come here...
They sit on the couch and go onto their phone. They eventually fall asleep.
Shadows.
Darkness.
Everything is empty. Except the shadows passing by.
Flowers in the cracks of the road.
Are they getting bigger...?
Y/n feels a tapping on their shoulder, and they jolt awake. They look up, Kurapika is looking down at them.
He begins to explain, "I apologize for my actions. I shouldn't have yelled at you. I've just been having a rough day."
"Do you want to talk about it?" Y/n asks immediately after, with worry filling up in their chest.
Kurapika nods surprisingly, and sits next to Y/n, "Everything has just been stressful... The eyes."
"Just the eyes?"
"No. There's more than that. Things I probably shouldn't tell you."
"Kurapika, you should tell someone."
He takes a sharp breath, "fine. I did something unforgiveable. I killed a Phantom Troupe member."
Y/n stays quiet, letting him continue the story.
"I was so enraged. I hated him in that moment. But that doesn't take away from the fact that he was still a real person with feelings. He was a person just like the people he killed."
"I can't imagine how that feels."
"Hey, Y/n, this might sound weird coming from me, but could I get a hug?" The request comes out of nowhere.
Y/n flushes from the request, "of course I can do that."
They give the most comforting hug they can manage, even in their half-awakened state. As Kurapika hugs back, Y/n's grip tightens.
"Thank you," he comments, still hanging onto them.
"Of course. Anything for you," they respond.
"Anything?" Kurapika responds, jokingly.
"That's not what I meant and you know it."
"Yeah yeah, I know. I was just poking fun."
Y/n laughs and looks up at Kurapika, suddenly noticing something.
"Is something wrong?"
"Have those circles under your eyes always been there?"
"Uh. No," Kurapika pulls out of the hug, "it's nothing to worry about, I promise."
