I finished all the orders before two and was able to just hand deliver them since Tyler ditched. Once done, I changed back into normal clothes for me and called Tally.
“ello?” she answer her phone.
“hey tals.”
“oh my god! How is it?” she asks, a little too excited.
“fun. Nothing too exciting. Tyler asked about you.”
“really?” she giggles, “that guy is seriously messed up in the head.”
"You can say that again.”
“so have you asked your aunt about the fourth yet?”
“shoot, I forgot about that, hold on.” I run downstairs with the phone in hand, “hey sally, can my friend spend fourth of July weekend here?”
“if she doesn’t mind sleeping on the couch.”
“great, thank you!” I yell at her and head back up to my room.
"You have to sleep on the couch.” I tell Tally.
“where are you sleeping?”
“sharing a room with the one and only-“ the door bursts open then and I look up, meeting eyes with Tyler, “Tyler.” I say into the phone and to him.
“glad to see you too Lindsey.” He smirks and plops down onto his bed.
There was silence between us and I almost forget I was on the phone, "You’re sleeping in the same room as Tyler!?” she bursts out laughing.
"You talking to Tally?” he asks, picking up some sports magazine.
“indeed I am.” I answer both of their questions.
“tell her I said hi.” Tyler tells me. I loved seeing him so weak, it was almost cute.
I toss the phone over to him, “why don’t you tell her yourself, I’m going to go clean up.” With that I left the room and went to take a nice hot bath.
By the time I got out of the bath, the sun was setting and it was getting down right chilly outside. I wrap my hair in a towel and head back to my room, only to find Tyler still on his bed talking to my best friend. I raise my eyebrows at him and he ignores me, turning to face the wall. Not caring, I put my hair into a quick pony tail and slide on my flip flops, deciding to go for a walk.
“where you off to?” Sally asks, as she watches me leave.
“just a walk on the beach, I’ll be back in about fifteen minutes.”
“alright. Hey, say, is Tyler in your guys’ room?”
“yes he is.” I answer, before closing the door behind me.
It was breezy outside, and not very warm. But my long sleeve and jeans kept me at a nice temperature. Out of no where a dog came running up to me, rubbing against my side. I laugh and bend down to pet it, and it sits down automatically, “good boy.” I say, giggling.
“Rocket, no!” I hear a guy scream and assume that’s the dogs name, Rocket. Suddenly a running figure comes into view as he gets closer I notice it was the same guy from the bakery earlier this afternoon.
“I’m so sorry.” The guy says, coming into full view. He reaches for Rockets collar to hold him in place, “he usually doesn’t run off like that.”
I smile up at him, and stand up, “it’s okay.” I say, “he seems like a very friendly dog.” I comment.
“actually, he usually stays away from strangers.” The guy says. It was then that I realized how close we were standing since he was holding onto his dogs collar and all. Suddenly, the fact that I didn’t dry my hair or put on a fitting shirt made me feel self-conscious. He must’ve noticed how close we were also because he let go of Rockets collar and took a small step back.
Rocket, now free, made a run for it down the beach, barking. “I guess I better—“
“I guess so.” he smiles again before jogging down the beach to find his dog. I laugh a little to myself and walk back to the bakery.
