Surprisingly, people did show. Practically the whole town showed. I was quite amazed at the number of people that were there, even some who I didn’t think would show, like Jenna and Rebecca.
“I’m going to go get some water, you want anything?” I ask Sean who was sitting next to me.
“no, I’m good.”
“okay, I’ll be right back.” I walk over to the table that had all the drinks on it and grabbed one of the many water bottles. When I turned around to head back I saw Jenna sitting in my spot.
She was looking at Sean and didn’t notice me standing next to her. “I know Tyler’s taken, but you’re not.”
“actually-“ Sean starts.
“some girl who has a childish crush on you doesn’t count.”
“but-“ she grabs his hand and pulls him up.
“come on, lets go dance.”
I roll my eyes and step between them, “sorry Jenna, but the best girl won. Move along now.” I wave my hand in the opposite direction and she glares at me before stomping away.
I take my seat back and lay my head on his shoulder. “want to tell me what that was about?” he asks, drawing random designs on my palm.
“what what’s about?”
“oh you know, Tyler’s wanna-be girlfriend hitting on me.”
“oh that! Well, you see, earlier today she decided to go after you since Tyler was taken. That’s all.”
“yeah. Because that totally makes sense.” Before I could say that it did make sense a big furry animal jumped on me. “Rocket!”Sean scolds. I laugh as rocket licks my face and wags his tail. Sean grabs his leash and pulls him off me so that I can sit back up.
“thanks babe.” I say, pecking his lips.
He puts on a disgusted face, “you taste like dog.”
I smile and kiss him again “you’ll just have to deal with it.” Sean kisses back and pulls me so that I’m more or less sitting on his lap.
Somebody coughed behind making me pull back and almost fall off. I turn around to see Tally sitting there.
“yes?” I ask.
She smiles widely, “nothing happening, huh?” I blush and glare at her, “anyways, I’ll be staying with Tyler at the house. So don’t worry if I’m not there in the morning.”
“the house?”
“yeah, you know how they’re getting married and everything?”
I glance back at Sean, confused, “Tyler spent a lot of time with me after my moms death and we kind of made one of the guest rooms his.”
“then why was he on your floor last time?”
Sean shrugs, “didn’t feel like moving?” I laugh and turn my attention back to Tally.
“are you telling me that on the first night here you would like privacy with your boyfriend?”
“um, yeah, pretty much.”
“fine. I’ll see you on Sunday.”
“not tomorrow?”
“maybe, maybe not.”
she laughs, “Sunday it is.”
The rest of the night went by quickly. We roasted marshmallows, built sand castles, and ate a lot of pastries. When Sean and I decided walk back it was already past midnight.
“can you stay with me tonight?” I ask, slipping on my sandals.
“I don’t see why not. let me just tell my dad though.” We walk over to where Sally and Matthew were sitting.
“hey dad, I’m gonna stay at the bakery tonight. Lindsey doesn’t feel like being alone.” That last part was a lie but whatever.
Matthew eyes us for a second, “no funny business.” He says and then walks away. I must say that that made things a little awkward on the walk back to the bakery.
Though once we made it into my room and got ready for bed, we had already laughed about the topic and let it slide. When he’s arms wrapped around mine and pulled me closer I couldn’t help but wonder what would become of this relationship.
