"I want to thank you for giving me a chance."

I scowled at Nico. "Who said that I would give you another chance?"

"Look. I am aware of my actions, and I hate myself for it."

"You should."

"I want to change. For my child and you never know, maybe we can make something happen eventually."

"I doubt it."

"Val, I know how you feel about Danny, but..."

"Leave him out of this."

Nico scowled. "So, you still love him?"

"That is none of your business, Nico."

"Well, I would treat you better and I can guarantee that I would never hurt you."

"If only I could believe that."

"I will do absolutely anything to prove my loyalty to you from now on."

"Look. I appreciate your offer, but the only thing that I want from you is to be a part of your kid's life."

"I will be."

"And in terms of us, I don't have any reason to trust you right now, nor will I gain your trust for a long time."

"Well, can we at least be friends or something?"

"We will keep things at a mutual level."

"I guess that's better than nothing."

"It's the only option that you have."

"I really want to make this happen, Val."

"Well, I don't."

"Val... you are having my child and I refuse to walk away. I want to be here for you the whole entire time."

"I really appreciate that, but you can't change my mind."

"Take as much time as you would like to think about it."

"Well, the screenshots on your phone sure didn't seem like you are sorry."

"That is in the past, baby. I want to change for not only myself, but for us."

"I can't risk that, Nico. I am sorry but you fucked up and it is something that is hard to forgive. "

"So, you're just going to sit around and wait for a relationship that will never happen with him when you have someone here who's willing to support you?"

"Whatever."

I knew that Nico wanted to be with me, and it could possibly distract me from thinking about Danny, but I wanted nothing to do with him in terms of romantic feelings. He cheated on me, and I already was hurt enough from Danny. I refuse to become vulnerable just to get hurt all over again.

"All I can hope for is to get your mind off of him."

"I am focusing on Maverick, no one else. My son is my main priority."

"That's what I love about you, Val. I will change your life for the better, baby."

"If only I could believe that."

"It's just a matter of time waiting for the baby to arrive."

I dreaded going to work the next day, but I couldn't have the thought of it stress me out. I was in no shape to be stressed, I had to focus solely on Maverick and keeping my life together for the time being.
