*** A few months later: As I exited the conference room, I noticed that Valentina was not in her office. "She's not here."

I approached Micah and scowled. "Where is she?"

"Why she you care?"

"Because I haven't been able to see my son and it has really pissed me off."

"She left because she didn't feel good. Is that a good enough response?"

"Is she coming back today?"

"No, she's coming back on Monday."

"Have you seen him?"

"I see him almost everyday, he sure is cute."

"Do you think that she will allow me to see my son?"

"You'll have to figure that out."

"Micah, please ask her. She won't answer any of my texts or calls."

"I don't think her boyfriend would like that."

"Her boyfriend?"

Micah nodded. "Yup. I really like him."

I could hardly believe that she would actually move on. I hated it as a matter of fact.

"Well, do me a favor and tell her that I am stopping by to see him."

Micah shook her head. "Not a chance, Danny."

"Come on, Micah... it would mean a lot to me."

Micah looked up from her computer and scowled. "If you loved her, you would do something about it. Now, if you excuse me, I have work to do."

Beyond being frustrated, Valentina would have no choice but to allow me to see our son.

Valentina

I sat on the bathroom floor, feeling the same dread as I did the first time. I loved my son more than anything, but he was only eight months old, and the thought of having another one so soon made me feel even more stressed out.

"Babe, are you okay?"

I looked at Ben and shook my head. "Not at all."

"Why? What's wrong?"

I handed him the test. "It's too soon, I didn't think that it was possible."

"It's been a few months."

"I am aware, don't remind me."

"I'm here for good, Val."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course, why?"

"I don't know."

After seeing the messages on Ben's phone last week, it truly broke my heart. He had promised he would be loyal and change, but I should have known he didn't always keep his promises in the past.

I was beyond scared to confront him because I had no idea how he would react. It explained why he had excuses when he got home late, and I was simply too blind to see it.

"Is everything okay? You seem sad."

"Would you ever cheat on me?"

"Never."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course."

"Then what are these?"

I handed him my phone and he scowled at the screenshots in my photos. "Where'd you get these?"

"Why would you lie to me, Ben? I've done nothing to deserve this."

"Valentina, I can explain."

"I can't believe you made a promise that you would change yet lie right to my face."

"Please let me explain."

"I have plenty of people to help me with Maverick, you are no longer one of them."

"Please don't do this."

"You are the one that messed up."

"I can explain, Valentina."

"I figured you would be old enough to remain loyal, but I was wrong."

"Baby..."

"You should leave, Ben."

"But..."

"Go."

As I watched him slam the door shut, tears slid down my cheeks. Just when I thought that my life would go back to normal.
