*** Ten months later: As I exited the conference room, I noticed that Valentina was not sitting next to Micah. "Where is she?"

"Not here," Micah said, her face glued to her computer screen.

"Where did she go?"

"Why should you care?"

"Because I haven't been able to see my son and it has really pissed me off."

Micah rolled her eyes. "She left because she didn't feel good."

"Is she coming back today?"

"No, she's coming back on Monday."

"Did she have the baby yet?"

Micah nodded.

"Have you seen him?"

"I see him almost every night, he sure is cute."

"Do you think that she will allow me to see my son?"

"Don't know."

"Micah, please ask her. She won't answer any of my texts or calls."

"I don't think her boyfriend would like that."

"Her boyfriend?"

Micah nodded. "Yup. I really like him."

I could hardly believe that she would actually move on. I hated it as a matter of fact.

"Well, do me a favor and tell her that I am stopping by to see him."

Micah shook her head. "Not a chance, Danny."

"Come on, Micah... it would mean a lot."

"If you loved her, you would do something about it. Now, if you excuse me, I have work to do."

Beyond being frustrated, Valentina would have no choice but to allow me to see our son.

Valentina

I sat on the bathroom floor, feeling the same dread as I did the first time. I loved my son more than anything, but the thought of having another one so soon made me feel even more stressed out.

"Babe, are you okay?"

I looked at Nico and shook my head. "Not at all."

"Why? What's wrong?"

I handed him the test. "I should've known better."

"I am here for you."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course, why?"

"I don't know."

After seeing the messages on Nico's phone, the last few days really showed his loyalty towards me. After several years of heartbreak, I figured he was old enough to know how to be loyal but it's something that I needed to

confront him with.

I was beyond scared to confront him because I had no idea how he would react. It explained why he had excuses when he got home late, and I was simply too blind to see it.

"Is everything okay? You seem kind of... sad."

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Val..."

"Would you ever cheat on me?"

"Never."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course."

"Then what are these?"

I handed him my phone and he scowled. "Where'd you get these?"

"Why would you lie to me, Nico? I've done nothing to deserve this."

"Val, please let me explain."

"I can't believe you can just stand here and lie to my face."

"Please..."

"I have plenty of people to help me with Maverick, you are just not one of them."

"Come on, Val. It was one mistake."

"Yes, but it is something that is unfixable."

"Baby..."

"You should leave, Nico."

"But..."

"Go."

As I heard the front door slam shut, tears slid down my cheeks. Just when I thought that my life would go back to normal.
