Chapter 04
Confess
—————
Why keep liking someone who never actually knew you existed? I thought about it a lot.
Jericho liked someone else. It was even rumored that they were together already. No one knew if it was true or not, but still, he liked her. That's enough information.
I sighed in defeat. I just got home and I was staring the whole time at my phone. It showed Jericho's Facebook profile. I have told Rika that I will finally tell Jericho about my feelings if I get a spot at CPAPS— whatever the rank is. And I even told Gino that I will confess if I win— it must be the rank 1. And apparently, I won the first place. I am now thinking if I should keep my word or not.
I mean, that's Jericho! I doubt he'll reply to me! Worse, he might even just ignore me! Jericho is Jericho, he would even spit out words to me if he liked.
I closed my eyes and pulled my hair out of frustration. This is what I get for liking someone who's out of my league. I should have just remembered the irritation I felt when he called me "assuming" back then! That way, I wouldn't like him for years.
I groaned in annoyance. Kinuha ko ang cellphone ko at dali-daling pinindot ang message button sa profile ni Jericho. Without thinking that much, I typed. I read it twice before hitting the send message.
Halos mamatay na 'ko sa kaba dahil sa ginawa ko kaya pinatay ko agad ang cellphone ko at agad na humiga sa kama. Kabado sa mangyayari, sinubukan kong matulog.
But who the hell am I kidding?! Sinong makakatulog kung umamin ka sa long-time crush ko through a message?! No one!
Agad akong bumangon at inabot ang cellphone ko. Binuksan ko 'yon at halos hindi na 'ko mapakali sa paghihintay. When it opened, I saw that it was already 2 in the morning. Hindi talaga ako makatulog simula kanina pa! Good thing, it's Saturday.
I bit my lower lip in disappointment when I saw nothing changed in our conversation. I was certain Jericho received my message because the check mark was filled with blue, and yet, there was no response nor a hint of him reading it.
Jericho ignored my message. He totally did.
Napanguso ako dahil do'n. I knew this would happen, but I still felt disappointed. Oh, well. At least I tried confessing.
My family and I celebrated my victory in CPAPS by going to the mall. We spent our whole day there. Mom and I went shopping while Dad paid for everything we did. Most of the things I bought are for art materials— Mom and Dad paid for them as a congratulatory gift for my victory.
"Tali did great, Hon. She deserves more than this," Mommy said while looking at my art materials. She sipped on her drink before lifting her eyes at me. "Do you want something more, Tali?"
Napangiti ako bago umiling. "No, Mommy. This is more than enough,"
"Are you sure?" Dad asked. "I can buy you a new iPad if you want. With that, you can draw more comfortably,"
My eyes widened because of that. Immediately, I shook my head.
"My iPad is still working totally fine, Daddy! I don't need a new one," I said.
"Are you sure?" Mom asked.
"Yes po, Mommy. I am sure," I smiled.
My parents tend to spoil me a lot. It was a normal thing since I am their only child. Both of them are busy, so they only have one child. Daddy is an artist in an animation company while Mommy owns a small hair salon near our house. I got my talent for arts from Dad, so he always supports me with everything as much as he can.
