My eyes widened when I heard those words leaving Derek's mouth. This is what I was afraid of. I felt the same way but I had a boyfriend and Derek was going to be my brother.

- Derek, I said quietly. He walked up to me and we were now standing face to face again.

- You know that we can't. Even if we wanted to, I said.

- So you do feel the same way, he asked. My cheeks started to heat up and I looked down. Derek lifted my chin up and looked in my eyes.

- Please just answer. Do you feel the same way, he asked once again. I felt my heart reaching. I never felt like this before.

- Maybe, I said. Derek slowly starts to lean in and just as my lips were about to touch his.

- I know this is wrong but I just need one more kiss, Derek whispered and I could feel his warm breath on my lips. My breathing became heavy and I was too tempted to kiss him. I didn't think about the consequences after.

- Ah what do I have to lose, I said and wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him into a kiss. The kiss was slow yet passionate. This kiss will be the last. He eventually pulled away and both of us stared at each other.

- Goodnight, Derek said and walked back to his room. I went to the bathroom to get ready for bed.

The next morning I stepped into the kitchen with no energy and very tired. Last night I couldn't fall asleep at all, whatever I tried to do my mind always went back to the kiss and Derek.

- Are you ready for school, Derek said out of nowhere. I jumped up and placed my hand on my chest as my heart was beating fast.

- Gosh you scared me, I said and took deep breaths.

- Sorry, he said and looked down. We both sat down at the kitchen table and ate our breakfast then we walked to school.

Could walking with Derek to school get any more awkward? We both walked in silence and awkwardly glanced at each other.

- I heard that my mom and your dad aren't going to be home today again, he said and looked around.

- Oh, I said. Before I could continue walking Derek grabbed my hand and stopped me from walking.

- Lea, he said and looked at me.

- Yes, I said without looking at him.

- I know everything is awkward after the kiss, he said and smiled a little.

- I know but that shouldn't make it awkward between us, I said and looked at him.

- Can we maybe go back to how things were before the kiss, he asked.

- Yes, I said.

- Like the kiss never happened, he said with a sad voice. I just nodded my head and sighed. However the kiss was going to be hard to forget. We both continued to walk until I saw my boyfriend approach me. I stopped and just as Nick was aiming for my lips. I tilted my head so he kissed my cheek and I could see that Derek was surprised by my action. Nick was about to speak but I cut him off.

- Let's go to school before we're late, I said and we all walked to school.

When I got home I laid down on my bed and looked up at the ceiling blankly. I have been avoiding Nick all day at school. Not because I felt guilty about kissing Derek but because I was falling for someone else. I sighed and continued to look at the ceiling until I heard a knock on my door.

- Come in, I said.

- Hey, Derek said and walked in. I quickly sat up on the bed and tried to fix myself real quick.
