Chapter - 13

Jungkook sits nervously in the expansive living room, his foot tapping unconsciously on the polished floor. He feels the weight of a stare on him and looks up to find a person in a suit still standing nearby. Since Jungkook's arrival, the individual hasn't budged an inch, maintaining an unwavering gaze. Jungkook can't help but wonder why the person is so guarded; after all, he's not here to steal anything.

In an attempt to distract himself from the penetrating stare, Jungkook scans the grandeur of the room. It's spacious enough to fit his entire rented house and then some. The sheer opulence of the surroundings leaves Jungkook in awe, and he can't help but gape in amazement at the extravagance before him.

"I hope I didn't make you wait for long," a voice says from behind him. Jungkook turns around to see the familiar man walking down the stairs, making his way towards him. Jungkook gets up and bows in greeting. The person in front of him might be a beta, but in this world, your rank doesn't matter. Your power comes from how much money there's in your account.

The man extends his hand for a shake. "No need to be so formal," he says kindly. Jungkook smiles and shakes his hand. The man gestures for Jungkook to take a seat, and they both settle down.

"So, what brings you here?" the man inquires, looking at Jungkook expectantly.

Jungkook hesitates, feeling a knot form in his stomach. "I don't know how to say this... Um, I... It might sound rude, but can I have Bam back?"

The man looks at Jungkook with a mixture of shock and confusion. "What?" he exclaims, clearly taken aback by the request.

Jungkook reaches into his bag and retrieves an envelope, pushing it across the table toward the man. "This is the money you gave me," he explains, his voice tinged with a hint of desperation.

Jungkook swallows nervously, feeling the weight of his emotions bearing down on him. "I know it doesn't make sense, considering I gave him to you in the first place," he admits, his voice trembling slightly. "But I really need him back."

As Jungkook speaks, memories of Bam flood his mind - the joy he brought, the comfort he provided. Despite his initial decision to part with the pup, Jungkook finds himself longing for his company once again. He recalls Vante's words, which have echoed in his mind relentlessly, driving him to this point of desperation. He can't shake the feeling of emptiness that has lingered since Bam's departure, nor the nagging worry about his well-being.

The man's sigh is heavy with understanding as he gestures for Jungkook to follow him. Jungkook, though uncertain of what awaits him, stands up, clutching the envelope tightly, and follows the man. As they move through the house, Jungkook's nerves intensify, his mind racing with anticipation and fear.

The man leads Jungkook to a room, and without knocking, he opens the door slightly. Peering inside, Jungkook's heart clenches at the sight before him. A small girl stands in the room, her face filled with concern as she tries to coax Bam out of his bed. But Bam remains curled up, withdrawn into himself, his eyes downcast and filled with sadness.

The room is filled with all the comforts one could imagine - a plush bed, toys scattered about, and the warmth of a loving home. Yet, despite the abundance of luxuries, Bam seems untouched by it all, his spirit weighed down by an unseen burden.

Jungkook's throat tightens as he takes in the scene, a pang of guilt and sorrow gripping his heart. He realizes now, more than ever, how much Bam means to him, and how deeply he regrets the decision to part with him. With a heavy heart, Jungkook steps into the room, his eyes fixed on Bam, his mind consumed with a single thought - he needs to make things right.

Big house, people, car, and money. Maybe he doesn't want all of that

Vante's words ring in his ear, just like they had been for past few weeks. As Jungkook stands there, his eyes filled with tears, Bam suddenly perks up, his nose twitching as if catching a familiar scent. Then, with a sudden burst of energy, Bam's eyes light up as he turns towards the door. Jungkook's heart leaps as he watches Bam's reaction, his own eyes welling up with emotion.
