Jungkook moves through the corridor alone, his ears ringing with a deafening silence that muffles the sounds of the bustling hospital around him. His mind is a foggy haze, everything appearing blurry and indistinct. He doesn't know where his feet are taking him, guided only by a sense of numbness that pervades his being.
Doctors and nurses pass by him in a blur, their voices distant and unintelligible. Jungkook's head hangs low as he repeats the doctor's words in his mind, the weight of their implications pressing down on him like a heavy burden.
Your daughter has a condition called Cystic Fibrosis.
It's a fatal condition. She was put in an incubator.
Finally, he reaches the incubator room and sees Vante standing outside, his gaze fixed on something inside through the glass. Vante's face has a faraway look, an emptiness that mirrors Jungkook's own inner turmoil.
Unable to contain his emotions any longer, Jungkook's resolve crumbles and tears begin to fall from his eyes. Shame and sorrow weigh heavily on his shoulders as he takes shaky steps towards his husband. Vante looks broken and vacant, his eyes hollow and devoid of feeling.
As Vante senses Jungkook's presence next to him, he looks up, his eyes swollen from tears. His voice is hollow as he acknowledges Jungkook's arrival with a simple, "You are here." Jungkook fights to keep his composure, his heart breaking at the sight of Vante's weakened state.
Vante gestures towards the baby inside the incubator, attempting to divert their attention. "Look at the baby," he says, his voice devoid of its usual warmth. "I can't figure out if she got yours nose or mine."
Jungkook can't bring himself to look directly at their baby, overwhelmed by the gravity of the situation. He sniffs, his gaze falling to the ground as Vante continues, his voice drained and emotionless. "They say she has some lung disease. Apparently, she won't survive. Even if I try to feed her, they are saying she might stop breathing."
The reality of their situation sinks in, and Vante's facade finally crumbles. His desperation and pain are palpable as he looks at Jungkook, his face contorted with anguish. "They are not letting me touch her, Jungkook," he cries out, his voice cracking with emotion.
Jungkook is at a loss for words, his heart heavy with sorrow. Vante grabs him by the collar, his grip tight with anger and frustration. "You promised me, right? This will be the best decision of our life?" Vante's voice trembles with accusation as tears stream down his face.
Vante's cries echo through the sterile hospital corridor, mirroring the torment in his heart. Jungkook's tears mingle with his own as he watches Vante's anguish unfold. With a surge of emotion, Vante pushes Jungkook away with all the force and anger within him; his voice choked with tears. "You said that the baby will bring us joy. Why did this happen then?" he cries out, his fists pounding against Jungkook's chest, "I refused already,"
Jungkook's heart breaks at Vante's words, his own sorrow deepening with each blow. "I'm sorry," he whispers, reaching out to hold Vante in his arms. But Vante refuses his touch, pushing him away with desperate strength, his cries filled with pain and suffering.
Jungkook persists, wrapping his arms around Vante as he fights against his hold. Vante's resistance is palpable, his body trembling with grief and anger. Jungkook's own tears flow freely as he tries to offer comfort, but Vante's anguish is too raw, too overpowering to be assuaged.
Eventually, Vante collapses against Jungkook, slumping down on the floor, his strength spent from the onslaught of emotions. Jungkook cradles his head, holding him close as he continues to cry out in anguish. Jungkook's own heart is shattered, his resolve crumbling under the weight of their shared sorrow.
