Well folks, our first lemon is here, and it won't be the only one, I assure you. ;)
================================
The next morning arrived and after going through breakfast, we made our way to the CEO office to hear what Malcolm had to say.
"Morning, Commander." He greeted. "You're looking a lot better today."
"That's because I have great company, no matter the time of day." I replied.
"Anyway, General Granger wants to talk to us, so I'll put him on."
He switched the giant monitor screen to see the General's room looking quiet and some of their employees were unpacking a few things.
"Good morning, Commander." Granger spoke. "You've done good with yesterday's work. Nod has retreated to where they first began their invasion, The White House. But for now, D.C is back in our control, we also have a new acting Director, Redmond Boyle, he's the former GDI's treasury commissioner."
Oh that guy...the one who wanted the player to end the war quickly through extreme means.
"Now, I know what you might be thinking. But that's our succession protocol. Everybody above Boyle on the chain of command went down with the Philadelphia. Look, Boyle's a sharp man with the purse strings, and GDI is gonna need every penny to help turn this all around."
Just then, a burly guy turned up, that's the Boyle guy for sure.
"General Granger, this is an honor, truly." He said. "If you had no idea I was coming, I apologize. But I was touring the area and I wanted to stop by to offer my gratitude for what you are doing."
"Well, don't thank me, Director. Thank the TIA's commander."
Boyle then noticed me. "Ah, so this is the new Commander I've been hearing so much about. You may be part of the TIA, but it's great to have you on our side. I can see that Malcolm has done a great job in keeping you up to date in all of our affairs. Isn't that right, Malcolm?"
"It is indeed, and I thank you for the praise, but I merely offer advice and our summoners and their Nikkes carry out their objectives." He replied. "Our commander here is the only one we have in our command structure, and we need him at his best."
"So I've heard. Commander, your efforts on the battlefield is a great inspiration to us all. But I encourage us not to rest on our laurels. We cannot be contempt to take back what was ours in the first place. If Nod and their rapture allies want a war, let's give them one. A war to end their reign of terror once and for all! But for now, finish what you started here, take back The White House and show the world that the tide is turning."
"That will be all, Commander." Granger said. "Good luck out there."
"Thank you, both." I replied.
Malcolm switched off the screen. "Shifty will bring you up to speed when you depart, be ready."
I nodded and left the office to regroup with my team. We got on the rooftop to catch a chopper and it was a very long flight since The White House was quite far away. I believed that this was a good chance to have a word with the girls.
"Before we arrive, girls. I just wanted to ask." I said. "And you don't have to push yourself, Sugar. It's about the harem relationship I have here."
"Sure, Partner. Feel free to speak your mind." She replied.
"So to you seven girls, I was wondering if any of you have been feeling a little needy of wanting to spend time with me. Because ever since I became an official commander, the workload has been piling up a little. I'm just worried that I'm not spending enough time with you all."
