Yep, the final chapter is here and what better way to wrap it up then with a sparring showdown between two commanders.
===================================
Silence...darkness...and yet I hear faint voices crying out my name.
"Your Grace!"
"Believer!"
"My Lord!"
"Commander!!!"
I must've really freaked them out.
"What are you doing, Commander? Shouldn't you be fighting for Nod?!"
I gasped when I saw Kilian standing a few feet away from me...now I had to be dreaming. I then noticed that her uniform had a bullet hole and bloodstains.
"How could you let yourself fall like this? You made it all this way in the name of the Brotherhood and yet, because of your carelessness for your health, you fall at the final hurdle?!" She spoke in a displeased tone. "Disappointing! But if you disagree, you need to get back up!"
There was nothing I wanted to say, for she made her choice and her fate was decided.
"You have far too much to lose it all. I can never be forgiven for my actions, but now you have a chance to help end this war. And if you do, then I can accept my ambition for a peaceful world being achieved by someone else. Now go, Commander. Wake up! And forget me!"
She then faded away and I regained consciousness.
"Ngh...mmm..."
"So you finally stopped dreaming, Summoner?" A voice asked.
I slowly opened my eyes and wake up to find myself inside a hospital room. I then sat up and looked ahead to see a familiar face.
"Huh? Cecil?!"
"Yes. It's been a long time since our mission back in Brazil." She replied. "Don't move around too much. The medical team did all they could to extract the tiberium vein smoke that was inside your fiber system."
"Oh, so that's what it was...where am I?"
"You're back inside the underground bunker, and this is the infirmary section. Nod's forces brought you back here. As for your nikkes, they're in the waiting room. But there are two people who need to speak with you first, before I can let them in to see you."
"Okay."
One of the nurses set up a video link and Ajay appeared.
"Commander! Oh, thank the Brotherhood you're up again! You really gave us a lot of fright you know." He said, feeling relieved. "Well, at least I can stop worrying about that."
"Yeah, sorry you had to see me like this, but there wasn't anytime for me to rest. So what's on your mind?"
He sighed. "I don't know. Maybe Kilian was right. Maybe Kane has lost it."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, I shouldn't be telling you this yet since you need to recover, but I have to. The next mission you have from Kane, he says this will be your final one. He wants your forces at the foot end of Italy to protect an alien tower, and wipe out all the troops in the Red Zone. We're talking aliens if they decide to attack us, GDI AND Nod!"
"Huh? Well that doesn't make any sense, I don't get why though."
"Yeah, I don't get it either. Sacrificing our own soldiers to save these stinkin' Visitors! I didn't sign up for this. Kane wants you to rest up, if you can't do it. But if you're gonna take on this final mission, I hope it works out for ya. But I gotta tell you, brother, I do not envy you anymore."
