The part where the alien invasion kicks in begins, but first, some night time romance.
=================================
It was the start of the evening by the time we arrived at a secure Nod base in Australia. The place had a VIP underground bunker and the base itself was located just off Queensland. According to Nod forces, it was the perfect location to monitor other nearby areas in the country.
I was inside the commander's room while the other girls shared three guestrooms, Isabel was with me since tonight, it was her turn as I promised her. She was waiting for me in the bedroom while I was near a TV screen with the video linkup ready to go.
I then had a group call from Kilian, looks like she wants everyone in Nod to hear.
"Children of Nod, I bring grave news. As many of you know, we were building a liquid Tiberium weapon at our Temple Prime in hopes of ending this awful war. Those hopes were killed, along with our leader Kane, when GDI destroyed our most holy site. We do not have all the details yet, but it appears the Ion Cannon blast set off a liquid Tiberium explosion beneath the Temple. The damage to our Yellow Zone is unspeakable, casualties in the millions on both sides. Among the millions, was a CEO for one of TIA's nikke divisions and a trio of nikkes on our side whose transport ship was destroyed in the blast."
I gasped...the rehab trio were killed?! Dammit!!!
"Darling..." Isabel whispered as she hugged me from behind.
"No one can replace Kane, but it is now my duty, my blood oath, to lead the Brotherhood through this trying time, and I say there is no time for mourning. We must turn our grief into anger and leave that past behind us. We must put all talk of Ascension aside! Our only goal should be to take back this planet, one continent at a time. Tiberium is our divine birthright, those of you who embrace it, will inherit the Earth. Those of you who defile it, will feel our fury. Follow me, my children, and I will lead us to victory against GDI."
The call was ended and then another call came in, from Ajay, which I answered.
"Seems you're holding up well, brother. Me? I don't believe this...I grew up near there."
I nodded. "We all did, brother. I'm a little down after losing those Rehab girls..."
"Oh right...I'm sure they would've been a great help. But still, I don't care what Kilian says, Kane is not dead! He's too smart, he wouldn't let that happen. No way he'd bail on us like that, there's no way! You hear about Kilian's new plan? She wants to steal GDI's nukes, level the playing field. And she calls Kane too aggressive, what a joke."
"I guess she's stopped caring about double standards."
"Yep. And look at this, Kilian just put out her first high directive. She wants all military personnel in Australia. That's our last stand. Guess we've got no choice, an order's an order...but man, this sure takes the fun out of being Nod."
"So when will I be heading out?"
"Tomorrow morning, Cecil wants you to rest for the evening. She's on her way to Australia as well, but she says she's gonna pick up a few things along the way. Get some rest for now, Commander. I'll contact you on the mission in the morning."
"Okay, You take care, brother."
He nodded, ending the call.
"Are you feeling well, Darling?" Isabel asked.
"Yeah, I'm alright. Those rehab girls weren't around me for long, so I don't feel as emotional about it compared to if I somehow lost one of you."
She nodded. "I understand if this is the wrong time, but I want to make you feel happy again."
