"I mean-it's obviously," John B shrugged, "right?"
I looked over at Pope as he dangled my father's compass in front of his face.
"A family heirloom. I mean, what a better place to hide a message?! He had to know it was gonna get back to us, right?" John B asked as he looked over at me.
I slowly nodded my head. "Yeah. It's possible."
Pope rapped the compass back up in his hand. "It could also be possible that you're concocting wild theories to help-"
"Pope." John B interrupted, shaking his head.
"You know....deal with your sad feels."
Me and Kiara both gave him a look to shut the fuck up.

"Bro, you know how I process my sad feels." JJ spoke as Pope looked down. "Dank nugs and the stickiest of ickies, that's how I do it-"
"I'm not concocting, okay?" John B interrupted. "My dad's trying to give me and Haley a message." He looked back at me then back at the road.
Kie turned her body in the passenger seat towards John B. "If it helps you believe, John B."
"Look, I-I don't need a therapy session, okay?" John B spat out. "I'm not trippin out."

We all stayed silent for a moment.
"It's okay to trip, bro, but-"
"Look, my-my dad is missing, okay?! Missing. You don't know what it's like to have the person closest to you vanish...and then have no idea what happened." John B explained to us. "Just wake up every morning wondering."
Kiara looked down for a moment then back up at him. "It's been almost a year."
John B stared at her. A very numb stare.

"Hey, he could have been kidnapped. That's definitely a possibility." JJ pointed out.
"Yeah, could macaca be in a Soviet sub getting interrogated by KBG somewhere." Pope suggested.
"Absolutely." JJ nodded. "Uh....or Atlantis-"
"JJ." Kie interrupted. "Look," she spoke mainly to John B, "what do you think the message is?"
"Redfield." John stated. "Redfield lighthouse. My dad's favorite place."

Just as John B said that we passed the sign that said, REDFIELD LIGHTHOUSE, STATE PARK, slapped on top of that sign was another sign that said, CLOSED DUE TO HURRICANE
Seconds later John B was putting the Twinkie in park and hopping out. We all followed behind him, looking up at the lighthouse. A white fence surrounded it, plenty far away from the lighthouse but just enough so it could keep people and animals out.

"Right. Here's what's gonna happen. You're gonna post up and look out for bogeys, okay?" John B ordered as he walked up to JJ.
"What...why me?" JJ asked as he looked over at me, Pope, and Kie then back at John.
"Wha-What do you mean?" John B mumbled.
"Because you're not coming." Pope stated.
"Why?!" JJ asked Pope.

Pope took a step forward. "Look, JJ, there are independent and dependent variables. You're an independent-"
"Shut up." JJ interrupted.
"We don't know what you'll do-"
"Shut up, Pope!" JJ started yelling as he pointed at him. "Just shut up!!"
"Listen to me for a second!!" John B interrupted. "Just listen-Pope, you stand look out with JJ, okay?"
JJ looked over his shoulder, annoyed as fuck.

"If we get split up, we meet back at JJs house." John B explained.
"Great." I nodded, looking over at Kiara who was also nodding her head.
JJ scoffed and took a step back.
Me, Kie, and John B all looked at each other and decided that the plan worked and that we were going to head up to the light house.

After we hopped over the white fence it didn't take long to make it to the actual light house. One we stepped inside we all looked up.
The stairs looked endless.
"Remind me what we're looking for again." Kie said. You could hear her voice ego throughout the light house.
"We'll know it when we see it." John B replied.
Kie shrugged and nodded her head. "Okay..."

One step after another. It took ages to climb up those stupid stairs. Every once in a while you'd hear a bird. It would freak me out but we had to keep climbing. It took a solid 5-10 minutes to walk up all of those stairs.
