Maya
The chilly wind of this rainy season blew through my hair. The cold blew away the warmth I felt inside. I was standing at the rooftop of the headquarters just above my suite. The room felt too small and too suffocating.
The meeting had ended a long time ago. But the voice of Ryu Johnson echoed in my head for a very long time.
"The only one with direct access to the Automobile owners is Maya Ali's father. I am not suspecting her. It's just that it is too clear of evidence to ignore."
I sighed and gripped my hair. How the heck is he suspecting me? He had looked odd from the start. When I just took it as his personality I was wrong. He was more than what he showed.
Although the board member had dismissed his suspect as a sort of coincidence because there was no way I could join the special force without the help of Ali- as they thought, I still felt anxious. I had to be on tiptoe.
They did not have much reason to suspect me and Ryu had absolutely no reason to suspect Ali, but we were the ones they would not like. They would despise our plan. I was set out for blood and Ali just followed behind to make sure the blood I spilled was impure.
As for Hunter, he thought he could fool me. It does not affect me even a bit to know that he wanted to destroy the whole world by following my plan. I could predict that he wished to be the Master of Demise.
He thought I just wanted to eradicate evil.
I smiled at my thoughts. He did not know that I was sick of the world like him. I wanted to set it on fire but I must tread carefully. On the way, I will have to decide who I would want to keep by my side.
I stretched. The sun did not shine today. Black clouds hovered above me. The detectives on the board were probably sweating their butt off trying to pick a hint on any little evidence.
Alas, BloodBane never leaves much behind.
I looked up as the clouds above me became darker. The breeze picked up pace. I held my coat closer to my chest. I always loved the cold. I loved the way it froze my bones. It made me forget about the time I was warm and with my mother.
My jaw teetered. The memories started waking up. I shook my head. I will let go of my pain now.
I will demolish everything light touches.
The clouds grumbled. I was alone but after a few moments, I felt warmth behind me. Someone touched my cold-coated arms. I wanted to relish the feeling but clicked my jaw and turned around.
Ali stood before me now as his lips turned pale blue and the weather messed his hair. "I wouldn't wish for my project leader to fall ill." He said.
I looked at his hand holding my coat. I lightly shoved it away and turned my back on him placing my hand on the railings of the rooftop.
He did the same standing beside me. "So what does BloodBane plan on doing next?" He asked.
I wanted him to shut up. But to be honest, I needed him to tell me what to do next. "Did you know that Ryu Johnson would suspect us?"
He licked his dry lips. His rosy cheeks turned paler. "He is a guy you would want to stay aware of."
I turned my head to him. "What?" Gripping his arm I jerked him towards me. "You said, you were going to give me protection."
He smiled warmly melting away the cold. "I only promised to not put you in jail so you can show me that I was right for not putting you in jail." He said. "And since when did you stop putting plurals in BloodBane?"
I pushed him away. My anger rose. What a jerk! He knows very well that he is supposed to tell me what I should do next. Because BloodBane is now chained.
"We have a target ahead of us." He said. "Your first task is to find out who I want you to kill." He said.
I frowned. Does he take me for his slave or something? "What harm will it do to you if you tell me directly?"
He looked up at the sky. The rain will pour soon. "I addressed that earlier. I want to see what justice your violence has. You need to prove it to me."
----
"He wants us to find who he wants us to kill?" Hunter shoved a piece of his Apple.
I sat properly in his bed and nodded. Taking a deep breath I closed my eyes trying to find some peace of mind.
Hunter laughed. "And how do you plan on doing that?" He asked.
"He has a chart for a billionaire with the most hidden criminal records who had managed to know something about us. It's a businessman who is supposed to be at the top of the target of BloodBane." I explained.
"How did you know that?" He wiggled his eyebrows.
"Just how I found out about the bullies we killed in the past." I looked at him with tired eyes. He just wanted to piss me off now.
He nodded. "So what do we do next?"
I fixed my dress and got up. I felt some sort of rage inside me. I felt as if my nerves were aching. I had not smelled blood in a while.
"Ali told me that there is a businessman whose wallet was getting heavier with black money and his heart getting darker with sins," I said. "He hates animals. He ordered the murder of 11 thousand cats and 15 thousand dogs because he did not like their smell in his area." I said.
I could see Hunter's expressions changing. He felt rage inside him as he heard what I said. It was clear.
He looked at me with a poker face which signaled that he wanted to kill such a man brutally, painfully.
"He killed those animals by ordering his men to beat them to death by giving those men greed of money." I bit my lips. I could feel my body getting warmer as the sky poured itself on Hunter's suite window. He stood up.
"This man had previously killed his wife. As I can say from research. The internet or any source of information won't reveal his identity. But if I do find him out. He will be our first target." I matched eye level with Hunter.
"BloodBane may be chained but it's still alive. We will go on no matter what." I finished.
Hunter nodded. But our feelings were mutual. We were starving for blood.
