So, I was wrong. Things were taking a turn for the worse, and I wouldn't be surprised if it escalates and ends up being worse than last year. Of course, Harry Potters name had to come out of the goblet, because it wouldn't be a school year at Hogwarts without something trying to kill the boy.
It was going well too, Viktors name got pulled and he sent me a look before going into the other room. He was soon joined by Fleur Delacour and Cedric Diggory. Once all the champions were in the other room, Dumbledore started another speech but was cut short when the magical cup spit up another name.
Really the amount of bad luck Potter has is truly never ending. I can only hope the situation doesn't escalate but knowing how things are in this school they probably will. We were sent back to our common rooms as soon as Harry disappeared to where the other victors were.
Draco and the boys made snide comments about Potter the entire way back but me and Val held our tongues, we both saw the look on his face when his name was called. He was terrified so I doubt he had anything to do with putting his name in the cup, which almost makes it worse because that would mean someone is trying to put him in dangers way through the tournament.
I would have to talk to Draco tomorrow about what it meant for his name getting called, but for right now I just let him joke around and complain with his friends. Once I establish that there is someone in Hogwarts pulling strings, likely for the dark lord, Draco won't be able to have as many carefree moments like this.
Ideas and theories bounced around my mind not letting me relax, and it continued that way until morning, leaving me to have a restless night.
A few days flew past with not much happening but me and Draco met more often talking about who could be the one working for the dark lord here in Hogwarts. We had theories but nothing more, no evidence or solid leads to help us stay ahead. Which was dangerous, to win this war we needed to be one step ahead, but it feels like all we've been doing is playing catch up.
Right now, me and Val were sat in the courtyard enjoying the sun on our faces as we talked aimlessly. The weather was perfect, and I wish the peace I felt in this moment would last, but unfortunately it never does.
A commotion drew my attention over to where I saw my brother and Potter arguing once again. As they both pulled their wands out pointing them at each other I stood and briskly walked over trying to put a stop to whatever was about to happen.
Just as I reached them a spell was cast from the left of both boys headed straight towards Draco. My heart dropped to my stomach as I saw the magic hit him square in the chest, shrinking and transforming his body into one of a white ferret.
"Draco!" I scooped my younger brother in my arms glaring at the new Dada teacher as he limped towards us, his wand still pointed towards me. Blaise and Theo side stepped in front of me blocking the creepy teachers view of my shaken form, and Enzo grabbed Draco's wand from the ground.
Glancing over I saw Potter laughing and I clenched my jaw, trying to keep from doing something I would regret. Professor McGonagall rushed over towards us her robes fluttering behind her. "What is the meaning of this?!" She glanced around her eyes landing on Draco still held in my arms and whipped around towards Moody.
"Is that a student?!" Moody stared back at her as she lectured him and Harry stood there smiling as Moody sent him a wink while McGonagall was looking away. I took a calming breath before looking down at Draco's new form, his small eyes held fear and I stroked his head before passing him to Blaise.
"Take him to the hospital wing, don't let other people see him, when the nurse turns him back, have her make Draco take a calming drought potion, he will be stressed and anxious. Be gentle with him please." I spoke the three boys that surrounded me, their bodies hiding my frame like a wall as the huddled closer to listen to my directions.
