The Malfoy Girl

Chapter 9

"Oh noooo." I turned my attention to Val who sat to my right, "He's coming over here, why is he coming over here, why is he doing that?" 

With a quick glance up Valaria starts smirking and getting giddy, "Calm down." Her voice hissed at me making me straighten up and take a breath, all in time for a deep, accented, voice to interrupt me. 

"Heiress Malfoy?"

I quickly take a breath to compose myself and look up at him a small smile on my face. "Heir Krum." I replied staring at him. I could feel many different eyes on me, watching me, wondering why Viktor Krum was talking to me. 

"I saw you at the vorld  cup, no?" He stood tall in front of where I was sitting his arms crossed against his chest, his stare unwavering. His lips curled up on one side, showing the slightest bit of a smile on his face. 

"Yes?" I tried to say but it came out as more of a question, which caused amusement to flash across Viktors face. I was flustered beyond belief right now; I was so sure that I imagined making eye contact at the World cup.

"Did you enjoy the game?" I nodded a small smile staying on my face, "Yes I did, you played wonderful."

Viktor gave me a smile of appreciation and opened his mouth to say something else when his name was called. His face dropped, turning from relaxed, to stone cold in seconds. 

"I do apologize, it looks like I haff to go, but I vill see you later." With a bow to me he stood straight before turning and walking to his headmaster, who guided him out of the great hall. 

I stared after his retreating form in shock, "What just happened?" I mumbled to myself. 

"Well, I believe Heir Krum has a thing for our little Ember."

I jumped in shock at Theos voice, I forgot they were there to be honest. "And you want to tell me you still don't have a crush on that man?" My brothers question made me purse my lips and roll my eyes. 

"Ember." I looked to Valaria when she called my name. "We need to debrief, like right now." My best friend stood up grabbing my hand and pulling me behind her. I sent a half wave towards the boys while trying to get my feet under me as I was dragged.

Eventually we got to out dorm and she pushed me in first, slamming the door behind her and leaning her body onto, staring into my soul. "He has a thing for you."

"I don't know Valaria, he could just be being nice, he was just saying hi, he might not even talk to me again."

Val let out a long sigh and shook her head in disappointment. "Out of every single person he could have gone up and talked to, he went over to you. And if it was because of your family, he would have talked to Draco and not you."

"So, what do I do now?!" I asked panicked, "I've never done this before!" 

"Don't worry, I have a plan." I looked at her unsure. "If I can't get a man the least I can do is make sure you get one." 

With a sigh I looked at my best friend who stood in front of me, a determined look on her face. 

"Ok what's first?"

She smiled at me and rubbed her hands together. Merlin above help me. 

Turns out that Valaria's master plan was to wait until he came to me, in her words, "Noble women like us do not chase a man, they chase us." And who am I to argue with her, I will never win with her. 

So here I sat in the great hall, trying to finish a potions paper that Snape had handed out the day prior to torture us. The quiet atmosphere was ruined when none other than the Weasley twins ran into the hall yelling and cheering. 

They each held a small vile in their hand as they approached the goblet of fire, students cheering them on as they went. I glanced up to see them talking to Hermione, she was probably telling them whatever they were about to do wasn't going to work. 

I laughed lightly in my hand as they dismissed her, which was a mistake I regret making. "And whatever are you laughing at Heiress Malfoy?" I tilted my head up meeting their gazes before going back to my homework. 

"You really should listen to Heiress Granger, she knows what she's talking about." 

"Oh please, you two are both just upset you won't be the ones finding a loophole in Dumbledore's spell." I shrugged not bothering to look up and give them more attention. 

"Ready Fred?"

"Ready George."

I assume they took the potions as the cheering gets louder and I look up making eye contact with Hermione, I rolled my eyes and gave her a, can you believe how stupid these two are look, and she smiled stifling her laugh behind her hand. 

We had somewhat of an understanding between us now, she's been wearing her hair up, and I have even seen her trying to tell Ron and Harry about Mother Magic. As you could probably guess they didn't listen to her.  

The cheering gets louder as they jump into the circle without any consequences. Soon enough they throw their names into the goblet and there is a short moment where even I questioned if that actually worked before, they were thrown back. 

I sighed disappointed and turned back to my book and paper trying to focus while the students crowd around the twins encouraging their petty fight. 

Suddenly a weird silence runs through the great hall, and whatever caused it even managed to stop the Weasley siblings from fighting. I looked up curious to what could obtain everyone's attention so easily and was met with the stare of Viktor Krum. 

Shocked that he was in here let alone looking at me, had me flinching a little, surprised.  Apparently, my reaction pleased him, because a small smirk grew on his lips as he passed where I was sitting. He looked straight ahead, walking straight to the Goblet of fire and successfully put his name in before turning on his heel and walking straight back out. 

Only right before he passed me, he tilted his head in the slightest way and sent me a small grin before turning back to the exit and continuing like he didn't just make my heart stutter.  

A small smile grew on my face, and I tilted my head down towards my paper to try to conceal it. Ok maybe my brother was right, I did have a crush, but the Bulgarian sure made it hard for me not to.
