Chapter 6: Hope, A Terrible Thing

Y/N and Redson had been enjoying the destruction of the city, especially since they also got to cause some. The two nothing more than causing havoc together.

Y/N had sent Braze off to go hunt himself down a meal. The volcanic creature had been very good and definitely earned it. Though now she wished she told him to stay nearby.

When those wannabes showed up, it had annoyed the twins beyond belief. Y/N snarled as she watched them destroy one of their mechs. She gripped her fan tighter.

"Let's get them." She rasped. Redson nodded before flames engulfed them. They reappeared down below, arms crossed and their backs to each other as they stared down at their opponents.

"So, you wanna be heroes, huh?" Y/N taunted, twirling her fan a bit. Redson laughed darkly. "Let us show you what happens to heroes!" He finished, flames building up into a wall of red as Y/N summoned a few fireballs, ready to send them at the mortals whenever she pleased.

The pig demon groaned in anger. "I've had it up to here with these demon punks..." He yelled, stomping over to attack until the dragon girl put an arm in front of him. She had her face down, covering half of it in shadows.

"I'll handle this one." She said, in a low sinister tone as she summoned a dragon spirit of brilliant green. However, that didn't last as soon a jet crashed through it followed by screaming.

Y/N blinked in surprise, the fireballs she summoned disappearing. "Yo, what the fu-" However she didn't get to finish her words as the jet came rushing at her and Redson, taking them crashing with it.

Y/N and Redson screamed in pain as they were thrown to the side in the crash. Redson was practically unconscious and Y/N figured she probably had a broken rib.

She heard the mortals saying something but didn't really focus on it, too busy trying to push herself up off the ground as the one with glasses poked her brother with a stick.

A rumble echoed through the city as Demon Bull King was now taller than the skyscrapers. He looked over the city with a malicious glare.

The girl and MK had rushed off already, but the other three were left behind by the time Y/N managed enough strength.

Y/N managed to sit up, clutching her stomach. She laughed weakly, causing the group to turn to her. "You foolish fools! You think you can beat our father? There is nothing you can do to stop him now!" She shouted, summoning every bit of energy left to appear aggressive.

The pig demon glared at her, the one with glasses holding him back.  The big blue one didn't actually show any malice to them this time.

However, they didn't have time to respond as a giant explosion sounded, sending debris everywhere. Y/N gasped, moving to try and protect the still unconscious Redson from being smushed.

However, the impact never came. Y/N looked up to see Braze had pulled them into one of his holes he dug. Y/N let out a sigh of relief upon seeing her loyal companion.

She then turned to her brother, shaking him to try and wake him up. "Red, come on. Get up. You lavabrain, get up!" She hissed, punching his shoulder.

Redson shakily sat up, rubbing his head. "Oh...  Everything hurts...." He mumbled. Y/N sighed in relief upon hearing him speak, pulling him into a hug.

"Oh, thank the Jade Emperor! I thought you died!" She said. Redson winced but smiled weakly. She pulled away from the hug only for them to immediately almost fall due to another explosion.

This time however, the rubble over them was pulled away and the land around was almost barren, their father lay in a crater, defeated.

Y/N staggered to her feet, helping Redson up as well. Her brother glared at a monkey King mech, which Y/N was very astonished to see. He coughed as he staggered over to the edge of the crater as best he could.

Y/N would've stopped him but she nearly fell over herself, being caught by Braze who trilled worriedly. "You think this is over!?" Her brother shouted.

"It isn't over, bozo!" He yelled, flailing his arms a bit to make his point. Y/N sighed in defeat. "Brother, please, we are in no state to fight." She pleaded, though her words seemed to fall on deaf ears. Which, considering the two explosions they just went through, was rather likely.

"Why don't you just get out of that dorky mech and fight me, you coward?" He yelled, before toppling over into the crater with Y/N and DBK, who was getting back up.

The mech's hand reached for them, the metallic creaking sound grinding on Y/N's nerves and giving her a bit of a headache. However, a tornado started to pick up as their mother appeared, a yellow glow in her eyes.

"We know when we've been bested. But this won't be the last you see of us, noodle boy." She taunted before laughing as the family disappeared in a tornado of wind, the only evidence of them being there was the crater left behind.

"Sweetie, I know you don't like it but mommy needs to clean the wound so it doesn't get infected. It'll only be for a moment." Princess Iron Fan said as sweetly as she could, holding the damp rag in her hands.

"No! I don't like it! I'd rather lose the leg!" Y/N yelled, sinking herself further into the lava pool to avoid getting near that water.

Princess Iron Fan sighed in annoyance, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Young lady, get out of the lava and get over here!" She shouted. "No!"

DBK watched the scene as Redson was bandaging his hand. "Why is she doing this?" He asked. Redson sighed. "We both have a healthy fear of water but Y/N's is just straight up aquaphobia. Won't get near it." He explained.

DBK looked a bit confused but just sighed. "Of course. I assume you can at least swim." He replied. Redson shrugged. "Somewhat. Depends on the water really." He murmured.

"Ugh! REDSON GET OVER HERE AND DRAG YOUR SISTER OUT OF THE LAVA!" "DON'T YOU DARE, RED! I WILL FIGHT YOU!"

Redson sighed and took a step back. "Coming, mother." He replied as he began walking over, taking off his jacket.

"REDSON, YOU TRAITOR!"
