𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐓 of Musutafu shone down on Iluliaq as he strode with an air of detached indifference through the bustling streets, even the busy hum of the city seemed to part around his frosty aura.
The chill of his iced coffee barely registered in his grasp, just another mundane detail in a world that seemed to hold no spark for him. His steps were measured, his demeanor aloof as he made his way to U.A. High School.
As he was about to take another sip, till avoice pierced his solitary bubbly, filled with hope and eagerness. "Kiyotsuki!"
Turning, Iluliaq's icy gaze fell upon a figure darting through the crowd, making a beeline for him. It was a boy around his age, yet considerably shorter, clad in the same uniform. The boy's round face was adorned with freckles, and his green, fluffy hair seemed almost comically earnest.
"Do I know you?" Iluliaq's eyebrow arched, his voice as cold as the winter of his homeland.
The boy's enthusiasm stumbled into uncertainty, "You don't recognize me?" He fumbled with his words, a tinge of hurt flickering across his face, and a trace of disappointment there in his tone.
"I'm Midoriya Izuku... We've been classmates since our elementary days..." Midoriya's words trailed off in an awkward and laden with an attempt to bridge the gap between them, his eyes darting away before returning to meet Iluliaq's indifferent stare.
Iluliaq's hum was noncommittal, a mere acknowledgment as he resumed his walk. Midoriya, however, trailed behind like a persistent shadow.
"I just wanted to say it's nice to see you again, since, well... you vanished after the first day. Hawks needed you, right? It must be incredible being mentored by the number three hero!" Midoriya's voice carried a mixture of admiration and curiosity.
Iluliaq's silence was like a wall, but Midoriya's chatter climbed over it undeterred. "Good thing you weren't there for the next few days. Not that I don't like having you around! It's just... we had a villain attack and-"
"Why are you following me?" Iluliaq's tone was sharp, cutting through Midoriya's ramble like a knife through ice.
Midoriya blinked, startled by the question. "Oh, I... I suppose I just wanted to talk. It's not every day you get to walk with someone who's been trained by a pro hero."
Iluliaq's eyes held a flicker of annoyance, yet he let the boy continue. "Besides, with everything that's been happening, it's good to stick together, right? We're classmates, after all."
A slight scoff escaped Iluliaq's lips. "Classmates?" He echoed, with annoyance. "What use is that title in a fight? Will it shield you from an enemy's blow?"
Undeterred, Midoriya's eyes shone with an unextinguishable light, "Maybe not. But it means we have each other's backs. That's what being a hero is about, isn't it?"
Iluliaq paused, regarding Midoriya with a newfound curiosity.
"You talk a lot." He stated flatly, but this time, there was a hint of something else in his voice.
Midoriya smiled. "Yeah, I've been told. But sometimes, words can do what fists can't."
Midoriya's curiosity seemed insatiable as he peered up at Iluliaq, his green eyes sparkling with interest. "So, uh... what's Hawks like?" He inquired, his voice laced with genuine curiosity.
Iluliaq's expression, typically stoic and distant, contorted into a rare display of irritation at the mention of his mentor.
"He's like an overgrown cannibalistic chicken." Iluliaq deadpanned, his tone dry and matter-of-fact.
