𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐋 had barely finished echoing through the halls of U.A. High when Bakugo, a human powder keg in his own right, descended upon Iluliaq.
The bustling classroom, vibrant with the chatter of students eager for the upcoming Sports Festival, shifted its collective gaze to the brewing confrontation.
"Hey, Ice Prince!" Bakugo's voice cut through the noise, a challenge wrapped in each syllable. Iluliaq, methodically placing his books into his bag, didn't so much as glance up.
The room's temperature seemed to drop a few degrees. Whispers flitted from desk to desk as Bakugo marched up to Iluliaq, his steps a staccato beat against the floor.
"You're gonna train with me for the Sports Festival." He declared, his words a mixture of command and invitation.
Iluliaq's response was no more than a continued, silent gathering of his belongings, the click of a buckle snapping shut like a period at the end of an unspoken sentence. Bakugo's face reddened with the familiar rush of anger and impatience. "Answer me, damn it!" He exploded, his voice ricocheting off the walls.
Finally, Iluliaq raised his head, his gaze as sharp and cold as the ice he manipulated.
"I already have a training partner." He said, his voice devoid of inflection, as though discussing the weather rather than a direct challenge from one of U.A.'s most volatile students.
Bakugo's sneer was instantaneous, a defensive mantle he wore as easily as his hero costume. "Oh, right. Hawks." He taunted, his words laced with scorn. "Think you're too good to train with the rest of us common folk?"
The classroom, now a silent amphitheater, awaited Iluliaq's reply. He shrugged, a glacial shift that somehow conveyed his utter lack of concern for Bakugo's approval. "It's not about being good." Iluliaq said, his voice a murmur that nevertheless carried to every corner of the room. "It's about effective use of my time. Training with you would be... less than productive, and offers me no advantage. I seek to improve, not to satisfy your ego."
Bakugo bristled, his hands curling into fists at his sides. "What's that supposed to mean, huh? You think you're better than me?" His voice was a snarl now, a challenge thrown down before the entire class.
Iluliaq closed his bag with a soft click, his movements deliberate and unhurried. "I don't think about you at all."
Bakugo's face contorted with a mix of frustration and disbelief. "You little-!"
Though Bakugo could unleash a torrent of fiery words, Iluliaq raised a hand, cutting him off. "Though if you really do want to train with me, I'm always at Takoba Municipal Beach."
With that, Iluliaq turned on his heel and began to walk away, each step a deliberate echo of his composed demeanor. Bakugo watched him go, a glint of surprise shining in his eyes, mingled with a challenging smirk. Finally, after years of waiting, he had the opportunity to face off against the Ice Prince.
"Takoba Municipal Beach, huh? I'll be there." Bakugo declared, a challenging smirk playing on his lips.
As Iluliaq reached the door, he paused, his icy gaze locking with Bakugo's fiery stare. "Though make sure you can keep up with me. I despise weaklings." He stated with a finality that brooked no argument, before striding out of the classroom.
Bakugo seethed, his temper flaring like a lit fuse. "You arrogant son of a-!" He spat out, his voice laced with a mix of anger and determination. "You think you're so high and mighty, don't you? Just you wait. I'll show you who the real powerhouse is around here!"
