Over the next fourteen days, Athena and Leah have spent a lot of time together. Athena is the only vampire that Leah likes, adores, could love one day. She's the one she will keep shifting for to be with forever.
Like right now, they're lying in Leah's bed, naked, after having sex for the second time. They had sex for the first time four days ago and it was miraculous. Athena has her head on Leah's chest and the wolf is holding her close.
Athena's cellphone rings and she groans. "Rose-Bud, I'm naked," she says into the phone.
"I'm sorry, but you need to home now," Rosalie's voice fills the speaker. "I'll explain once you're here."
"Okay. Whatever." Athena hangs up. She kisses Leah all over her face before kissing her lips. "I have to go." She smiles when Leah groans in protest. "I know, I know, but it could be important. Talk later?"
"Yeah."
Leah and Athena kiss before Athena gets up and gets dressed. Athena goes home and she sees Edward and Bella home. Edward looks nauseous and Bella... Athena's mind is distracted when she hears another heartbeat that isn't Bella's. Her eyes snap toward Bella's stomach and toward Edward and she looks at Bella.
"Bella, are you okay?" she asks.
"I'm, uh, I'm pregnant," Bella says softly.
"With Edward's...?" Athena asks and Bella nods. "I thought vampires without the humanity gift couldn't reproduce!"
"So did we," Carlisle replies calmly.
Athena pulls a scared Bella into her arms and the human hugs her tightly and she cries. Athena glares at Edward, knowing that he is probably making her feel worse. Edward bows his head and Rosalie relaxes knowing that Athena will be there for Bella.
"You know," Athena says, "you should name your baby Rhesus if it's a boy."
Bella pulls away and wipes her tears. "After your baby?" She shakes her head. "I couldn't..."
"I don't mind," Athena says. "Just think about it."
Bella smiles. "I want to go through with this," she says. "Rosalie's on my side..."
"I am, too," Athena says. "I am, too, Bells, but my mate... I can't lie to her."
"Will she tell the pack?" Carlisle asks.
"Not if I ask her not to, but if you don't want to risk it, I'll tell her that it's something I can't tell her yet," Athena says.
"That'd be better," Carlisle says. "For now, anyway."
Athena nods. She gives Bella a reassuring shoulder squeeze before stepping outside and texting Leah.
