Shopping is not my favourite thing to do, all the walking and trying on clothes makes me tired. It's probably just because I'm lazy, but if I must go shopping, I will only go with a select few, my family and my best-best friends.

Mum took Kai and Josie to a kids club that is set up during the holidays for parents who work and cannot afford a babysitter or a nanny. It's for children as young as babies to 13 year olds, from 8am till 5pm. Even though it is summer, my mum is able to work from her laptop, so during the holiday, she works four hours in the morning, then picks up my brother and sister by lunch time. It just makes life easier, especially since I don't want to watch them all the time.

Shopping was interesting. Belly and I were excited to shop but not as excited as Susannah. I think this debutante thing meant more to her than she led on, she is so enthusiastic about it. Perhaps it's because she only has sons, so Belly and I are the closest things she has as far as daughters go. Either way, I'm not one to disappoint, so I fed off Susannah's enthusiasm and enjoyed the process.

Dress after dress, Belly and I tried on. We pulled back the curtains to show off every new outfit that graced our bodies. I'm not going to lie, it felt great trying on the pretty dresses. Belly and I took a picture together before every outfit change, I was having fun with my best friend. We have not gone shopping like this since April. We twirled and danced as if we were in a montage.

"Okay, they're called fascinators," Susannah said as we approached the store. Belly, Laurel and I  trailed behind with shopping bags galore. "And all the girls will be wearing them."

We stopped at the window display. "Seriously?" asked Laurel.

"Seriously."

My face scrunched up. "How... fascinating," which earned a slight laugh from Belly before she said, "I don't know about this."

"Come on," Susannah encouraged as she directed us into the store.

Belly looked at me. "Are you fine with that thing being on your head?"

I shrugged. "Can't be as bad as having Kai and Jere dump ice cold water on me for that stupid ice bucket challenge."

Belly laughed at the memory. "Oh yeah."
