First Year

"Are you gonna tell anyone?". Remus looked thoroughly confused for a moment.

"Tell anyone what?". Sirius rolled his eyes.

"About last night, Lupin," he muttered.

"Oh? No of course not. I dont care, Black, seriously. You've got to relax. I didnt tell James and Peter first chance i got did i?".

"Well no but... ok. Thank you,". Remus rolled his eyes but there was a hint of a smile on hs face as he left the dorm. Peter had already skipped ahead and James was in the bathroom. Sirius decided he would wait for him. They were close already anyway and Sirius would hate to be left alone if he was in James' position.

"Sirius, oi Sirius!" whispered a voice. Sirius turned to the bathroom door where James was beckoning for him to come over. Sirius smirked and went to him.

"At your service, young Potter, what can I do for you?". James laughed.

"Just wanted to check you were alright mate. What were you and Lupin talking about?" he asked. Sirius paused.

"breakfast!" he said, reasserting the smile on his face. "we were just talking about what to eat for breakfast! I hear there's bread with every topping imaginable!". James gasped.

"I hear, there's Bertie bots drinks! They change flavour every time you pick up the cup!". Sirius grinned.

"I hear, if your name starts with J and ends with an S, you get bettle juice for breakfast,".

"And guess what, I hear, if your name starts with S and ends with S, you get salad sandwiches!".

"Oh Merlin no! not salad sandwiches! anything but the healthy foods!" Sirius cried. He and James laughed manically. They start walking down to breakfast, coming up with insane foods and drinks for the other to eat when suddenly they encounter a problem.

"What way to the great hall?" asked James. They had come to a section of the corridor where the left and the right and the straight looked exactly the same besides staircases and there was no indication of which stairs would move and which ones would get them there.

"Up them ones," suggested Sirius, pointing to the left.

"No, I'm pretty sure it's those ones," Said James, pointing to the right.

"Just use your map," Said Sirius.

"Can't," said James, with a shrug. "We were so determined to win the bet yesterday, we flushed them down the toilet. Remember?". Sirius' eyes lit up.

"Oh we did!" he giggled. James laughed.

"Would've been a bit easier if we'd taken time to memorise-".

"Are you two lost?". Both boys jumped at the sound of a girls voice suddenly materialising behind them. She had long ginger hair that had been neatly put into 2 plaits and a red ribbon at the end of each one to match her gryffindor coloured uniform.

"Sort of," Said Sirius. He looked at James who was strangley staring at the girl.

"Well where are you headed, hopefully I can show you the way," said the girl.

"That would be great!" James exclaimed, rather loudly. Sirius noticed that he was constantly messing up his hair. Walpurga would've gone mad, had she seen the state of the boy Sirius had befriended.

"Great," Said the girl. "My names Lily Evans, by the way. What's yours?". She looked to Sirius first so he promptly answered:

"Sirius Black,". She didn't even bat an eyelid at the dark family connections to Slytherin but rather smiled and looked to James.
