First Year
Sirius and James were sat on the sofas of the common room, watching Remus who was in the armchair opposite, drawing them.
"Reckon he's ok?" Murmured James. Sirius shrugged.
"He seemed alright, and him and Pete were speaking at dinner so..." Sirius trailed off as Remus looked up at them, pushing his hair out of his eyes.
"Stop shifting so much," he said. Sirius rolled his eyes.
"You may well of performed a stilling spell on us," he said. James laughed.
"No one in first year can do that,". Remus raised his eyebrows.
"Wanna bet?". James sat up slowly.
"What, can you!?". Remus shrugged.
"Weren't that hard, my mum does it all the time, I learnt it from her," he said.
"Your mum does it! To you?" James exclaimed. Sirius also now sat up, thoroughly intrigued. Remus nodded, a glint in his eyes.
"You know what, I've just had a really good idea," he said, standing up. James and Sirius looked at each other and then back at Remus.
"Go on!" They cried. Remus shook his head and indicated to the dorm. The 3 boys scurried up the stairs and into their shared dorm, Remus locking the door behind him.
"Wha- what's going on?" Asked Peter warily, who had been sat on James' bed, seemingly half asleep. Remus pulled off his jumper and threw it at him.
"Pay attention, Pettigrew,". James looked away out of respect as Remus found a different hoodie to wear, whereas Sirius couldn't stop staring. Remus was littered with scars that looked deep and almost golden when the evening sunlight hit his skin. They were jagged and rough but there was something so unexplainably beautiful about them. James nudged him.
"Well don't stare, idiot, he might not like it," he muttered, smirking. Sirius laughed.
"It would be rude not to," he said. James raised his eyebrows.
"Mmm, didn't I use that line when I was convincing you of Lily's beauty,". Sirius rolled his eyes. James hadn't even bothered denying the accusations all in the name of throwing it back in Sirius' face.
"I'm quite sure, yes, but - oh sweet merlin...". Remus looked so... ethereal in the light. The way it hit his back and shoulders. His developing muscles. James nudged him again.
"Your staring again," he said, laughing. Sirius frowned.
"No I am not,". He turned away from Remus, tracing the oak patterns on the bed frame behind them. It was James' bed, surprisingly.
"Right, so - what are you all doing?" Asked Remus. Sirius turned and saw Remus, now dressed, watching James, Sirius and Peter quizzically. Peter, who was profusely red and covering his eyes with his hands.
"Just... giving you privacy," said James, grinning as Peter slowly uncovered his eyes and forced a small smile too. Remus nodded slowly.
"And, you, Black? Quite sure I heard you say it's rude not to stare," he said, smirking. Sirius rolled his eyes, fighting the urge to scream and run and kiss and... never mind.
"I said no such thing, Lupin," said Sirius. Remus laughed.
"Sure sure, so I thought about Snape, how quiet he was after getting in trouble for the thing on McGonnagals desk,". Sirius and James grinned. It had been far too satisfying watching Snape scrub cauldrons in detention and ever since he'd been quiet to the 4 boys. Remus hadn't punched him yet this week and that was a wondrous achievement.
