First Year
"Do you miss your brother?" asked Remus, leaning back against the wall. Sirius nodded slowly, struggling to tie the letter to the owls leg.
"I've missed him since the second I got on the train," he said.
"Does he make you happy?" asked Remus. Sirius found himself smiling. He had slowly realised that Remus was adamant on finding something that made him happy.
"Yes, but he's not going to be here till next year," Sirius said. He had finished tying the letter and let the owl fly off, hoping he'd get a reply from Regulus soon.
"At least you've got someone to write to,". Remus pushed himself off the wall and began to wander round the owlrey. Sirius raised his eyebrows.
"Haven't you got family that want to hear from you?" he asked. Something flashed in Remus' eyes and he turned to Sirius sharply.
"What's it to you, Black?" he snapped. "Your family's fucking inbred so don't make comments about mine,". And began leaving down the stairs.
"Wait, Remus-".
"Lupin,".
"-Lupin. I didnt mean to, i was just asking!" Sirius called. Remus snorted.
"Well don't," he said. Sirius was only more curious to find out about Remus' family now.
"So what makes you happy?" he asked, catching up with Remus.
"Shh," Remus whispered, holding his finger to his lips.
"Why-".
"Shut up!". Sirius snorted. As they both fell silent, Sirius could hear voices from round the corner.
"He didn't mean to, Sev, don't take it to heart," came a girls voice.
"He said i was greasy Lily, he must've meant it. Don't tell me you've grown fond of the little fool?" came a boys voice, evidently this "Sev" person. Wait. Lily. And Sev. As in Severus Snape and Lily Evans? Sirius glanced at Remus who appeared to have made the connections before he did.
"He couldnt of, Sev! It was probarbly just a backhanded comment. And there was no need for you to call him a monster," said Lily. "Hes alright-ish, he and his friends are just a bit rude,". Sirius didnt hear much after that so he assumed they were walking away but Remus didn't move and stayed leaning against the wall. Sirius leaned beside him, brushing their fingers together.
"You look pale, Remus, is everything ok?" Asked Sirius. Remus ran his fingers through his curls. "Nothing they said was true, ok, youre not a fool and youre not a monster. And we certainly are not rude,".
"I am," Remus mumbled, pushing off the wall and beginning to walk in the direction of the dorms.
"You're not rude, Re-".
"Im not talking about that, im talking about the monster," he snapped, shoving his hands in his pockets. Sirius raised his eyebrows.
"No, Remus youre not. I dont care what youve done or what you've said that makes you think that but Snivellies comments should and will never ever change my perception of you... youre cool, and youre nice, and youre funny..." Sirius trailed off at the end when he realised Remus was watching him oddly. Then Remus smiled.
"Whatever you say, Black,".

"Oh i love this one!" Sirius cried. Remus raised his eyebrows.
"How come?".
"The flick at the end! It's so pretty!" Sirius said, as though it was obvious. Because it was, to him, obviously. But then Remus did something unthinkable. He took Sirius' hand - Sirius' hand - and held it still before neatly copying the writing style by writing their names.
